Gearswap Help Thread!

So today I was noticing while making a pup.lua That Automaton Oil +3 cant be equipped unless I use the abbreviated form of Automat. Oil +3. Yet everything I have ever put in gearswap always worked with the full names before. My non reforged puppetry hands (AF) work with the full name despite the in game name being abbreviated. Is there a reason why automaton oil +3 wouldnt work with full name that i am missing?

its because
Automaton Oil is below the cap for item names
but Automaton Oil +1, Automaton Oil +2, Automaton Oil +3 is above the cap so use Automat. Oil +1, Automat. Oil +2, Automat. Oil +3 respectively

i think the cap is 15 this was se's decision mind you i could be wrong

does anybody know how to count how many mobs are attacking the player and party members??

ahh so just because its an item and not an armor it has to be abbreviated.

no i think that all items including armor, weapons have to be under the 15 char cap

but if you want the correct names to use in equip sets use gs export

if you want the correct names to use in a command look in res/items.lua

"Automaton Oil +3" means nothing (i know I extracted +1 above, my point still stands), but if you put "Can of Automaton Oil +3", then it would work.

you might be correct on that
but i use gs export to get all things including there augements

Ah thank you Nynja, Yea all my other long name gear always worked, so it took me a while to try the abbreviated name in the gearswap, which worked.

Didnt have a problem with my original lua which had the base version in it (I dont think it gets abbreviated). I cant play on my good PC and the night I made the lua was the day my good PC took a crap. On this PC (Its an XP) yesterday the addon tab started to have actual addons in it. So i been updating my pup.lua since Ive gone from 20 to 99 since my PC crapped out and this problem was suddenly coming about.

equiping new geo gear gets me the following error:

any clue on this one?

The resources have not been updated yet,so recently added gear will not work for a bit.

Considering I just started getting that very same error, and it started the second I put my Peltast's Plackart on, I'm gonna say it's probably a resource issue for new gear.

So Spectral Jig was crashing my game today. Finally traced it down to GearSwap. Crashed so many times I got kicked out of Salvage... Anyone else having this issue? I was using a standard Kinematics THF lua.

I'm having the exact same issue, except it happens on all of the jobs i have .lua's for.

If you're using any recast checks, windower.ffxi.get_ability_recasts() is causing a crash to desktop right now. After commenting out all of mine, it worked.

I think DNC abilities might be crashing, I tried to use Haste Samba and it crashed.

Still the same problem, I haven't tested it with other DNC abilities though, but id assume its more of the same.

Yup, any DNC abilities cause my game to crash completely.

In my macros if it's a command with <me> everything works as normal. However, if I have <t> in the command, GS doesn't even pick up that I'm doing anything. No gear swaps or anything. Even if the <t> is me. If I manually click the song to cast, everything is fine as well.

If you have two of the same piece of gear but with different augments (and uses) can you tell gearswap when to use each one specifically?

IE:

I have dual wield taeon set for tp and a fast cast set for utsusemi.

Equip the piece you want and do //gs export

Then you will have a file with your current gear with the exact augments in .../gearswap/data/export

Copypaste the piece you need into your joblua file and you are done

Gearswap doesn't let Fenrir use Impact. I believe it thinks you need Twilight Cloak equipped lol

I can confirm this in my game as well. Spells selected from menu swap gear correctly, but for macros, the ones with <t> fail to swap.
