Nicely done..
Well Ifrit isn't the only thing you can take down with 6 SCHs it seems.
Shoutouts to Bane on stacked gaols. Wish I knew enough SCHs to do crazy stuff like this.
That's seriously pretty cool lol, my heart would be going a mile a minute on jails.
So one thing I've been doing for gaolers is, partly just for hate stabilization, I have Eos pop buffed Regen on everyone and send her to 3 o'clock or wherever people want to take them. With 2 tanks this is pretty inconsequential as she'll tank them for like 1-2 hits tops.
Tried it 1tank with some friends tonight for their first time at it and she ends up tanking them for almost their whole life (or hers if she dies). Kind of difficult to heal through as she takes ~1.1k per hit and mine only has 3991 HP. Even with Stoneskin, Adlo, Lustrate, Eye, Sustain she sometimes goes down. Kind of debating if it's worth doing (or at least if it's worth trying to heal her through), but it feels pretty cool.
I think using the fairy to position the gaolers is a good idea, but with 1 tank and 2 healers, Whispering Dawn + Medica II should be enough to keep up a gaoler-tanking BRD, DRG, MNK, or BLM alive as long as they're also using their personal defensive cooldowns accordingly. DRGs have the best tools to keep themselves alive if you don't want to try to burn the gaolers down immediately (for a while we were killing one instantly and having the DRG hold one until we changed our strat slightly), but almost any DPS job can do it. (I'm assuming 2 healers because you were talking about burning Lustrates on your fairy which doesn't sound very practical for 1 healer at that part of the fight).
We spent another couple of hours on Titan today playing around with other comps for a bit, then went back to our balanced setup with a WAR instead of a PLD and knocked another 8 seconds off our PR. The gaol RNG is kind of annoying in that some jobs get disproportionately punished, but that aside, we were consistently killing Titan at or before the landslide during line bombs.
Yeah, 2 healers and had Aether to spare in that instance. Occasionally a BRD or WHM (late Medica after Earthen Fury) would steal hate before a DRG could establish. Even if Eos dies it gets them in a decent position, which is probably worth the Swift+532 MP.
e: Though in retrospect we may as well have put the BRD with the DRGs if he's gonna pull hate.
When I solo tank Titan, I just grab both egi and we kill them as normal. Just rotate Titan so the sludge is still off to the side after egi die.
Sorry for the necro bump but after a long break in the game I've finally not only come back, but gotten to the point where I want to try tackling some extremes. I've managed to clear Garuda but Titan has been a disaster so far and I kind of have a couple suspicions why that I wanted to confirm.
My biggest issue is mainly in the whole "I ran out of the AoE range, but still got hit" with Landslide and WotL. My suspicion is that while my tower is good enough to run the game, I'm running it a little too high spec wise and as a result, animations/actions/etc load just that half-second longer then they should, which is usually that difference in escaping and being useless to the party. Is this a legit issue I can address simply by running my game on lower specs?
My internet speed is decent enough, I'm paying for what should be 25MB/s (which it obviously doesn't hit but it's one of the faster options my provider has), so I don't think that's the issue. As for my tower, the basic specs are as follows:
AMD Phenom 2.7GHz processor
8GB ram
Radeon HD 5750 videocard
Annnnnd... I think that's all that really is of concern in that department. So yeah, my tower isn't beastly by any means, but I like to think it's not total garbage yet either. I run the game in 1080p on an HDTV that doubles as my monitor and my basic solution at this point is to drop the display down to 720p and lowering some of the graphic options from high to normal(or even low/off) and see if that's the difference between clearing those AoE's or not.
Does anyone else have similar experience with this? And did this even work for you? And before anyone brings it up, I will say that I have zero desire in buying a new computer/parts in order to do something like clear titan extreme lol
Google "leatrix latency fix" and see if that helps.
1. The very first site I googled brought up a download that should potentially help fix the problem.
2. I hadn't even heard of such a thing before now. So I'm very much obliged to you for introducing me to it! Thank you very much! I won't really have a chance to try it out tonight, but I have to do Titan hard for my Relic bow and I'll give it a test run then :D
Regarding your specs question, it helps.
When I was doing titan ex on a rather gimpy laptop, specifically lowering all my settings during that fight made it 10x easier and beatable. Before I'd be loosing valuable time due to the delay / bad fps performance on wotl spam and landslides.
When I was doing it on my mac mini, I had to drop my resolution from 1920 to 1366. Upped my FPS from 12~ish to 30 and I could finally run out of the ground poo in time. Even then I still had to make sure I didn't point my camera directly at it, I had to tilt it to the side so all that rumbling crap was just a small bit. I still don't know why that shit causes so much lag.
Just reinforcing what others have been saying: I used to have trouble with dodging on Titan on my old PC because of barely perceptible graphical lag.. I turned down some of the graphic settings and it actually helped a lot more than I expected it to. Also, whenever I play through my HDTV the game always feels a little bit clunky because of the delay or the refresh rate, I'm not sure. This might be making it a bit harder, I don't know.
SE has some issues with loading into memory, I assume because of PS3 limitations lol. The actual animation for plumes and other stuff aren't actually loaded until it's being used so for slower computers, non-SSDs, PS3 peons, etc, you'll have shitty issues with actually seeing plumes since the game will still be trying to load the graphics while it's in mid-cast. All in all, it just means that you'll see it later than SSD users and thus end up dying like a moron and getting laughed out of the party for sucking and failing at the game etc etc etc.
Basically, if you have bad connection, fix that, if you have good connection but bad computer, lower graphics settings, if you have good computer, get SSD ( wait, that would be the definition of good computer wouldn't it ).
I appreciate all the advice. So far, Titan has been the only bane of my FFXIV existence, but I haven't given Coil at shot at all either but I'm gonna guess I'll have to deal with a lot of similar AoE shenanigans there too if/when I eventually try it.
