The Last of Us and Bioshock Infinite were clearly the two best games of the year, exhibits a and b in the vidya is art gallery. would go with the Bioshock narrative by a hair because it was not solely personal but expounded upon some heavy thematic content. The Last of Us was as fucking excellent and personal as stories get though, probably the best zombie fiction ever. good God damn year to see both of them released

Haha, Bioshock definitely is not the best game of the year. Do people forget that gameplay is part of a game too? And Bioshock is a crappy, unbalanced FPS with an interesting story and good characters. Last of Us has far better game play than Bioshock, so I'm not surprised people consider it GOTY but the controls on that always felt so sticky and dealing with zombies and people eventually just became so routine. Eventually I was only playing Last of Us to see more story, not because the game was fun or interesting or challenging.

I guess I'm the only person that felt the Last of Us was too much of a rehash of some of the best zombie fiction put in one. I felt like I was playing a slightly different version of the Road and at no point was I surprised by the story because I've seen it all before and at times the story to me was very disjointed. On the other hand Infinite was complete foreign territory to me and I guess that's why I enjoyed it so much. Relationship between Booker and Elizabeth felt much more natural too. I enjoyed the gameplay in the Last of Us more than Bioshock overall but it became extremely repetitive. It's just same situation over and over again.

I love it when the contrarians come out to play. Dead on man, Last of Us was fantastic in all regards.

this is how i feel about zombie stories in general. There is no event that anyone can put into that genre that would surprise me. The only things that I don't always pick up on are plot reveals, and even those are usually some bullshit like "HUMANS caused the virus!" like that's new.

I've actually almost never enjoyed anything zombie related. I don't get the craze and am not a fan of the genre. As many have said The Last of Us goes down the same path as pretty much everything zombie related and you can tell whats coming around every corner. With that said though, every narrative point was executed with perfection.

You got lot of deeper issues than what the game addresses if it's changing your life lol.

Bioshock Infinite and A Link Between World's personally for me. Didn't play Last of Us unfortunately.

Last of Us was predictable, but the atmosphere was not topped this year IMO. BioShock Infinite wins for straight plot though.

Easily A Link Between World's, I really hope they continue to use that wall merge mechanic, increase the difficulty and length to the dungeons, and make more top down perspective games like this. Controls were as buttery smooth as possible.

Why are you nerds always fighting. And RE Revelations is da bes. No, but seriously not a bad game. And still haven't removed the shrinkwrap from TLOU and Nuni w/e, dang so many good games.

GOTY for IGN, Giantbomb, Gametrailers, Destructoid, Kotaku, Amazon, Gamesradar to name a few. Massive spoilers if you haven't played yet.

Damn well better be. Game would've made a great Lost like T.V show as well. Either a simple 1 season show or ending each season like the 'seasons' transfer over in the show.

I recently bought Infinite so it will be exciting to see how it stacks up against TLOU.

It definitely would have made a great TV show. That's probably what it should have been.
