When did I say it was the best thing in media? I said it trumps anything I've personally felt in media before and opened the stage for a fantastic experience. Joel wouldn't have progressed the way he did without that scene lol

i'm honestly curious how people can use the same "movie" argument that did actually hold some water in MGS4 for something like TLOU. the cutscenes aren't generally nearly as long as some games, and the actual gameplay elements are what stuck with me personally. it's a fun game with a sense of urgency. if you play it on anything other than normal mode you'll really feel the pressure because supplies and ammo are always quite low. also the in-game environments are pretty beautiful.

calling it a movie or 'shoulda been a tv show' is pretty stupid. of course, the latter is a line coming from someone who hates most things, so

Hell, just turn off listen mode and the game instantly becomes better. But I agree generally. Survivor mode was a blast.

2013 had a lot of great games.

Some of the best for me The Last of Us (btw, not even a zombie game lol), Super Mario 3D World, A Link Between Worlds, Bioshock Infinite, Fire Emblem Awakening, Metal Gear Rising are all up here for me.

Gustavo Santaolla's music had such a huge impact in conveying those emotions too. I can't believe it wasn't nominated for a Grammy in best score soundtrack for visual media like Journey last year. I've played through the game three times, got the platinum and can still can't watch those scenes without choking up.
