I really don't know what might be the issue at this time. I'm not that good with computers myself, so my only advice would be to find a professional. My own issue was probably a driver thing and was resolved by a reformat/reinstall, so beyond that I am drawing a blank. Maybe a PSU issue?

    Hiya,

Your FFXIV becoming unresponsive sounds very similar to a problem I'm also having. I'm playing in windowed mode. Every once-in-a-while the game window will stop responding - as if the desktop was being selected and the game window deselected. The game wont freeze or anything. If I'm auto running, it will continue running, but wont respond to my controller. It only lasts for a few seconds, then just goes back to normal. It was not a big deal till I started doing things in hard-made where moving quickly could mean losing the fight. Was wondering if you were still having issues or if you found a solution?

I ended up doing a ton of things to try and fix this, from deleting unused usb information, making sure all 4 cores were being utilized on my quad core, checking all usb power options, reformating, updating all drivers i could, and lastly buying a new mouse. Apparantly some usb devices can get fucked up if you have an issue with 1 plugged in, and logitech mice have a bad habit of pinched/kinked wires inside the mouse.

I would suggest buying a new mouse and cleaning up usb information from device manager, show all hidden devices, and delete anything grayed out

I have a somewhat similar issue I had posted about this morning: http://www.bluegartr.com/threads/120...oard(-)-Issues, but my issue is that I lose the ability to type. Keys seem to be working for movement & hotkeys/macros (can move forward with 'W' but can't type 'w' in a chat box).

I do have a logitech mouse though... maybe Ill play with another mouse to see if the keyboard issue still persists.

Going off of what was reported before, unplug and replug your usb stuff when it happens and see if something changes.

I know one of the ports in my laptop is a bit messed up. It's on the side when the headphone jack, where a light squeeze to that area near the jack can mess with the sound output (the right channel likes to cut out sometimes, but the whole thing can go silent). It also fucks the usb port, stopping input from whatever is connected. I had a usb splitter there for convenience and was getting character drift like noted before in this thread. When it happened, the numlock light on my keyboard would blink since the connection was getting killed for a moment. Swapping ports fixed this, though obviously not the audio jack problem.

Could be the port(s) or your devices. If you're on a desktop, can try a usb pci card as a last resort if all your on-board usb ports are affected.

Tried cleaning up the usb info from the device manager, but nothing appeared greyed out. I unplugged my controller, mouse and head-set to see if the problem was there when nothing was plugged in. The glitch is still there.
Appreciate all your assistance. If any other ideas or possible solutions come to mind, I would greatly appreciate it.

Just to eliminate a funny bug I have encountered.
Do you run any kind of remote control/support software? I use Teamviewer with work a lot, and every now and then if I open a remote session, it'll have more or less the effect you're describing.

In device manager go to view > Show hidden Devices.
    What OS are you running?

No remote control - No support software (I think - Sorry I not very computer savvy) The only software I run when I play is Dolby to chat with other LS members during events. I removed Dolby the other day, hoping that it was the problem, but no joy there. Im running Windows 7 Pro. I went into the device manager and selected "Show Hidden Devices" but nothing appeared greyed out.

Found a good article on "Fixed by Vonnie" on how to fix USB Power management issues on Widows-7. I made the adjustments, but the problem is still there. Really thought that was it . . .

Greetings - Just wanted to follow up. I ended up doing a factory restore on my laptop & re-installing the game (After about 130 system updates)
Problem solved. Just wanted to say "Thank you" for trying to help. ^^
