Protip: skip the last cutscene and cast lots (or pass) as quickly as possible unless you enjoy getting boned on loot for the week.

The people that get boned are the ones still loading the cutscene, which they can't do anything about. You can pass/lot while the cutscene is playing just fine, but not during the loading screen.

In fact, I would encourage you NOT to skip the cutscene if you think this might be an issue for you, because skipping the cutscene sticks you in another short period where you can't pass/lot while it reloads the battlefield.

I was able to pass/cast lots mid-cutscene, so yeah, don't skip the cutscene until you pass or cast.

Interesting, totally wasn't aware that you could bring up the loot list in the CS. Is there a shortcut key or am I missing something obvious like the loot window being visible if you bring up the chat prompt in a CS?

Not the hugest of deals, but Acheron's Quake III works a lot like Geocrush. If you are right up on the boss, it will do roughly 2700 damage. Move to the edge of the arena, it gets mitigated down to around 1000 damage.

Quake III always follows the very obvious Moonfall Slash.

Thank god someone finally saying you don't have to kill skeletons on the farthest away platforms for Bone Dragon... I usually like to put one on the platform right next to the center (when tanking at the back of the room) so it can be killed first by DPS that are on the boss.

As far as getting loot goes, I just greed anything that will be a worthwhile upgrade for an alt of some sort. I should get the most use out of it that way (as I'm aiming for 90s on my main obv.), and it gets me out of that crap hole asap. Beats running the place 10 times a week trying to get that one specific piece that will eventually be upgraded out of anyways.

Every week i run CT every few days and never get what I want, then I queue up as PLD on Sunday with join in progress and join 2/4 runs only to find a BLM in there that wants to lot my blm body so i end up just lotting something else.

Just got the mnk body for my 25 mnk

It's a lot of work to baby 23 people for the chance that your piece drops only to have to lot against multiple other people for it, rough shit

That sucks, but seriously, never give up hope. A few rules will get you through that kind of stuff better.

1.) Murphy's Law - What can go wrong, will go wrong.
2.) Hope for the best, expect the worst.

It's not just CT. I did over 40 Garuda Extreme attempts yesterday, all with PUGs, (nothing else to do, finished everything for the week) to try for casting ring and every time it would drop, I'd get outlotted and someone else would get it and then leave party. Since Garuda is so punishing to melee, no brings anything but BRD and BLM which makes the competition for those items fierce. All in all, I lost the lot on four different casting rings yesterday.

My weekly Crystal Tower run: Join In Progress group at 2/4 (Behemoth). If drop, Greed/Need. If win, leave, if lose leave and repeat till win.

Or if you're a DPS: make a Party Finder group. Arrange jobs so the loot you want is exclusively yours. Pretty much required for shit like Ultima so there isn't 4 fucking bards in every run.

Quick question, I ended up tanking CT on WAR last night for the first time and main tanked the first boss fight. With the adds that spawn out towards the edges should I be running out between boss phases to DPS them, or do I just stay put in the middle and wait for the re-pop. Only asking because our alliance was absolutely awful at downing the adds in time, but maybe I could have done something better.

I'm assuming the way to mitigate that 3rd phase spike damage is through managing CD's properly? Have enough HP/DEF/STR to survive it, but it's the hardest I've been hit in game so far... lol.

Also, any other tips for tanking CT on WAR would be much appreciated.

Personally I just stay there n wait for boss to come back alive. Dps is terrible if they are struggling to kill those skeletons. They have no HP really.

Did my first run in here last night, loads of fun especially the final boss. It feels kinda like running a Dynamis, only with three randomly matched parties. And as a bonus I got the boots for my newly-maxed WHM!

Seconded, I can solo one on MNK with relative ease provided they are killed on the back platform. It gets a little hairy on the last set of skeletons, since it's a bit of a death march through poison to kill them, but Bloodbath or Second Wind is more than enough to survive it.

Problems only really come up if people start killing skeletons in the same row.
