3rd wild card is the dumbest thing ever
For the privers fans:

I can't believe it is possible some of you haven't seen the old spice commercial yet, but:

the more i listen to it, the funnier it gets
There are 4 would be 3rd wildcards with a better record than a div winner since 2002, all in the last 5 seasons
2013 Arizona 10-6 over GB 8-7-1
2011 Tennessee 9-7 over Denver 8-8
2010 TB + NYG (idk tie breaker) 10-6 over Seattle 7-9
2009 NE 11-5 over San Diego 8-8
i am torn because i like the idea of more chances for the eagles to make the playoffs, but at the same time i don't want to have to watch them lose in the playoffs more
Not that I think this should justify including another team, what's the record of the wildcard teams? This year 3/4 won, but how have they done in the past few years?
Wild Card teams have made it to the Super Bowl 10 times winning 4 of them, most recent being the Packers in '10.
And fwiw, the last 3 wild card teams to make it won (Steelers, Giants, Pack)
This idea is awful. Let's hope there's enough backlash to have it reversed after the experiment fails.
I have a way to make football more fun: Lower the price of admission and concessions. *sigh*
ok i have to jump on the priv bandwagon i fucking love this guy
Since 1970, there have been 35 or 36 teams that have missed the playoffs while having a better record than a division winner in the same conference. I'd need to go back and look at how many of those were from the decade+ when there were 3 conferences and only 1 wildcard team, and how many of them in that time were 9-7 beating 8-8 teams. But frankly, the need isn't big, and I foresee the #1 seed suddenly becoming a much, much bigger deal. That divisional homefield has been the surest advantage in all of sports since 1990; only one team having it is going to jump their odds.
This just in: Rodgers greatest guy ever; Dalton a salty sore loser who won't admit he sucks
