Looks like I gloated too soon. Just lost power.
Go figure that I lose power after the wind and rain has died down and is no worse than any normal day
Just a mild storm here in Marion county. Some places are closed but I'm at work. Getting ahead on shit for once. Job is great without customers slowing me down.
600k people without power. Gonna suck to be in north florida.
Dayum. They're showing St. Augustine on CNN and it already seems to be underwater, even before the storm surge.

Daytona Beach has no beach - https://twitter.com/greenishp/status/784382764430876677
That's so scary and sad , I vacationed there growing up with my mom and dad and it's an absolutely beautiful area and full of history. I hope it can recover in some way. Storm surge is insane and while I'm grateful my friends seem to have been spared the worst , there's still lots of areas that are going to never be the same.
Haiti has us beat soundly. Death toll up to 842 as remote areas on the peninsula are still just now being contacted. I feel like it could be updated tomorrow and suddenly be 1300.
Curfew ended now, time to survey local area
St. Augustine and Jax Beach are getting hammered by storm surge right now. Holy hell.
Any reports of deaths?
Fucking stupid people risking their lives and not evacuating in St. Augustine , 20 people including kids trapped at a B&B with water rising.

There's this thing called shelters and evacuation orders were put in place well ahead of time , no excuse aside from ignorance. Honestly where you are would be fine to weather most storms due to not being a coastal area but this is just about as coastal as you get.
I live where the star is, lol.
If a strong hurricane came through here, I'm sure shit would hit the fan fast

CS is from Florida?
...so many things make sense to me now...
It depends because the gulf isn't as bad as the Atlantic but admittedly mistook where you were my Florida geography is rusty >< .
Evacuation orders had been given with plenty of time, and this hurricane has been monitored for weeks. No excuse whatsoever other than ignorance. In my opinion it should be criminal, especially when children are involved. These idiots are not only endangering their own lives as well as the children, but of the first responders as well when they realize "oh shit! mistakes were made!"
