They called for 1-3 inches and we got a solid 5 with some light snow still coming. Just finished clearing the driveway. No KH3 for my tonight

They finally got her.
Eh, gets colder on Mt Washington
-60 wind chill, not temp.
I got jolted awake by our wall heater turning on automatically last night at about 2am. Scared the shit out of me. Only in the 20's here right now. It'll drop down to near 0 tonight but we'll be fine.
My friends in Chicago are all WFH or excused for the day.
Tried to go out and get breakfast a bit ago and found everything closed. This ain't Snowpocalypse, Chicago! You can still go to work!
Only walked about 3 blocks total, but I was really impressed at just how cold it could feel with almost no wind here. I can hear the wind howling, but that's not even that bad. -20/-50 windchill, I think.
32 degrees( 0 C) with 4ft of snow beginning to melt now, but it'll be 28-30 degrees later.
My one ton desk is right next to a huge window and two smaller windows. My desk is freezing and I can feel the wind rushing in. Fun! However, yesterday my boss was calling everyone wimps and how we're now a society of whiners because schools and businesses closed. Well, the high school that his kids went to which is of course the best high school ever and Monday and Tuesday they didn't close because they aren't wimps is closed today. He also brought in a space heater.
-15 feeling like -33. One perk today is due to the cold people either took today off/worked from home so lot of us were able to use the reserved underground parking spots today
I ventured outside today to understand what my grandfather went through while surveying Antarctica in the 30s. Its fucking cold. I had 5 square inches of exposed skin on my eyebrows and once the first 25mph gust hit me it felt like my face fell onto a pile of needles. My eyes struggled to not freeze themselves shut with their own tears. I have sought refuge in the nearby coffee shop with two other patrons who have lost themselves during these trying times.
Hat, ski goggles, gaiter and scarf, gloves with liners, thermals + two layers of clothing, snow pants for help with wind, jacket (Goretex preferable). The Antarctica (or super cold mountain day) layers.
This has been on my list of purchases for a while (cold-weather bicycling) but I have neglected for too long. I have a wool hat over balaclava, neoprene gloves inside wool gloves, ski jacket over thermal sweater over two layers of undershirts (one thermal), thermal tights/compression leggings (or whatever), jeans, and thermal ski pants, wool socks with insulated boots. My one ragret is the goggles.
What's the advantage (if any) of yellow goggles? This would be very low light conditions and night conditions since it would be winter hours. I need to get new biking shoes and covers so I'll probably grab goggles while I'm there.
Yellow goggles if you get the right kind can actually increase contrast at night and during blue hour to help you see definition in the snow while pure clear goggles do not help with that so you can trip or bump into lumps in the snow. (I worked in lift maintenance at a ski area for a year).
The rest of my house is freezing but my office is a comfortable 70 thanks to my 1080ti staring at fuzzy doughnut. I could probably fold and get the same results but I dont want to set that shit up.
I just took off my jacket because I was hot. It's a chilly 58F here. Yikes.
