the couple links I've seen about it seem pretty suspect, like it just goes back to one article which says "a tv source told us"

It’s hard to deny the most impactful show of the last season was HBO’s True Detective. From the word “go,” audiences were instantly on board with the twenty year journey of Rust and Marty to find the elusive Yellow King. In the end, the series reached massive critical acclaim and was confirmed to be seeking a full blown Outstanding Drama Series for HBO come Emmy time. But with all this critical acclaim comes questions, since the series exists in an anthology format that would completely retool the cast and story arc in Season 2. The major question looming over next year’s production? Who is going to lead the charge?
Recent rumors have stated series creator Nic Pizzolatto was seeking a female-driven cast for Season 2 of the hit HBO series, and now today, Nerdist has learned exclusively one of the names that may be on the bill in 2015: Jessica Chastain.
According to sources, the Zero Dark Thirty actress has been offered a leading role in the second season but has yet to accept. As for official confirmation, we reached out to representatives for Chastain, who have declined to comment at this time.
This would be a major land for the HBO series. Chastain has taken off since Zero Dark Thirty (Interstellar, anyone?), and as she continues to rise, it would be fascinating to see what she could do with a character over a ten-episode arc. As for who would stand alongside the Academy Award-nominated actress, that’s anyone’s guess, but for now, this is the best result we could have asked for.
Season 2 will have three leads, take place in California

From their FB page:
Can totally see Colin Farrell in this, but Vince Vaughn? Idk..Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn confirmed to star in True Detective Season 2 and Justin Lin is set to direct the first two episodes.
vaughn's been kind of typecast ever since old school. i'm interested in seeing his acting in this one.
that said, i heard that they aren't going to make the show as dark/haunting as the first season, and to me that's what helped make the show. i hope this one isn't going to be one huge letdown.
So not looking forward to this. OTOH, Vince Vaughn playing the heel seems like a good fit.
shut the fuck up olo
Pretty sure people said the same thing about Mcconaughey until he blew us away with that insane performance...
Yea but he had roles like dallas buyers club and to a lesser extent lincoln lawyer, wolf on wallstreet, mud, and killer joe. Almost everything 2010+ are "serious" roles
I think it'll be good, but putting Vaughn in shouldn't be the same to people as putting McConaughey in
I'm more worried about Farrell. I really like his acting but all of his movies flop![]()
Same with Woody. He was excellent in The Messenger but my wife never saw it and thought of him only from Cheers and Kingpin.
E: Oh yeah and No Country For Old Men
