It's a house known for kinky sex shit. Kind of thinking it's a bean bag shotgun and whoever's behind the mask is a dominatrix type assuming he was their 9:00. Either that or we just saw the second coming (and going) of Ned Stark. Which I'd be OK with, actually, because I sure as hell didn't see that coming. I just don't see it likely that he's dead given all the time they spent on his backstory, as opposed to the other two.

Unrelated: who was Vince Vaughn talking to after the fender bender? I thought it was the mayor at first, but obviously not.

I enjoyed this episode more than the first. I couldn't help but think of The Wire when they walked into the quonset hut and they had Caspere's name and photo on the board. The more I think about it, the more Wire-like it is, with multiple flawed protagonists, grey morality main characters, political intrigue, sympathetic criminals, and investigative style. Just a whole lot fewer black people. Regardless, reminding me of The Wire is not a bad thing.

This season is very Wirey right down to the ad-hoc task force investigating the crime with different types of officers from different precincts.

    I'll second asking this.

This show's so tough, we've only got 2 hours and every single character is a part of their own faction it seems. That's 4 main characters, every "higher up" that they answer to have their own motivations too, and of course the mystery super evil villain element(s). Lots of name dropping without the face too, and that's tough to follow.

I just know I'll love it a couple more hours in. Maybe episode 5 I'll be totally on board and excited

I thought it was sort of just like a scene to show that his character is starting to get back into the real down and dirty hustle em up type shit because he's poor as fuck. But I'm not sure.

As for the quality of the season... meh. i thought the opening scene with vaughn and wife in bed was horrible. Rife with shitty tropes that didn't add a damn thing to the story and it went on for way too long and the camera work was crap and he didn't act it that well either. I thought they had an absolutely absurd amount of "freeway transition" shots. I thought some transitions were clunky as hell. I don't understand who the fat guy in the ad hoc police task force warehouse even is supposed to be. It makes no sense why they all went in there, dropped some notes off, and were all like WELP I'M OUTTA HERE LATER LOL. The scene where they're in the autopsy room and everyone's flashing back to their various roles in the case also felt very clunky.

However the actual composition of the plot is coming together and it is interesting. Ani and Velcoro had a good scene together (in a car, imagine that Nic Palozozozololo).

Also Velcoro bought his kid a fuckin Gundam model. Hell yeah.

So i guess it was a local bookie that he is going to lean on either for money or info about what might have happened to Casper?

agreed about the opening scene in bed. wow that was painful. Fucking loved Velcoros' bit about supporting feminism due to body image issues.

Too easy. True villain has yet to be revealed imo.

Vince Vaugn's wife has something to do with it is my guess. And damn dude can brawl.

We met the bad guy of Season 1 in the ...second episode? Might've been third.

i really want to like this show but damn it's hard. vince vaughn has the physicality but his delivery/dialogue is just awful, the only thing saving this season is he of the glorious mane colin farrel, and i guess to a lesser extent taylor kitsch.

i'm with you man. Vince's brooding is so terrible. I still enjoy everything else tho. Last night's ending was way over the top, clearly trying to compete with last seasons single tracking action sequence, it was a bit try-hard to me but whatevs i'll take it.

    yeah, man.

i don't know what other people see in this series so far but i haven't felt that hook yet the way the first season grabbed me. doubt i ever will. i thought there would be a letdown but watching this shit makes me so bored.

I really can't pinpoint why I don't like this season. Acting is mostly great. Vince Vaughn is a little iffy but I've not really liked him in most stuff he is in. Hopefully it just ends up being something that becomes great once the season is completed, but so far it is just something to watch on Sunday nights.
