it's cause the characters aren't particularly likable, nor do they play off of each other the way cohle and marty did. i didn't particularly like marty's character and i don't really understand what his true place was except for being cohle's sidekick, but they were awesome together. none of these guys have the wit nor the chemistry with each other.

they're just boring. at most the chick is kinda horny, velcoro seems like he should have unloaded on his partners long ago, and the biker dude is gay? like seriously, that's all he brings to the table? he's a conflicted gay?

hard to fix that at this point. i'll keep watching cause why not, and maybe all the stuff they unearth about these guys will finally make the characters intriguing. the first season did take a little bit to get rolling as well, but at least you had something to chew on with those guys as well as that uncomfortable cult vibe. not this time.

Too many main character's problems to keep in line and it's tough to understand each person's agenda which means when they're talking/doing something it's hard to put it in context... making the acting look bad

I wasn't hooked on the 1st season until the 4th-5th episode though. And I'm sure this will at least get better once we know what the fuck we're looking for. Like, there's DEFINITELY a big reveal coming about who's after Vince, and why. + who killed caster or whatever his name was and why

I think the success of s1 has Nic Pizzolatto feeling himself way too much. Riggins could have a lot of potential character development if they would actually explore what happened to him during his time in the service and private military, with the show half over they should probably hurry up and get to it. Maybe we will get an awesome brokeback mountain in the army story.

S1 just seemed more simple/streamlined to me. This one looks like he tried to make an elaborate web of interaction between all the characters to tee up some elaborate political corruption story

The show should just revolve around Colin Farrell and Rachel McAdams with a better "bad guy" than Vince.

Vince isn't the bad guy, I don't know what the fuck he is to be honest but I am pretty sure he is not the bad guy. We don't know the bad guy yet but I am going to assume it is the people that have Vince's money and shot Colin Farrell and are somehow linked to the mayor

I'm 90% positive whoever the big bad is is already in the show, the theme music seems to imply that it's someone hiding in plain sight. Specifically the line in the first episode (the theme has changed each episode)

Most of the song is the same, but they use a different 4 line verse at the start and end of the intro in each of the episodes. Episode 1 & 4 were the same so it might be repeating now.
