Yeah, my only real gripe was that there was still one former detective who didn't have dementia, so even if Hays was in and out of things, they could have done a little more together or separately to piece things together. That said, it was more or less "fine" for me. I think this season's success (and the first) to me came down more to the chemistry between the leads, which was able to sustain the season during slow patches. I don't eve really remember what season 2 was about, but that was the biggest difference to me, not the multiple time period/cold case storytelling.

Considering they went to 75 minutes or whatever in the final episode, I don't know why they couldn't have managed somewhere at some point there or a previous episode to include a few scenes that they cut for time - Hays's wife's death and the situation with him and his daughter.

The "others" searching for her would have been the Hoyts and Watts. Watts says he was trying to help her and the Hoyts I'm sure were just trying to cover up everything. Watts wasn't doing anything anymore, he was convinced she was dead. The Hoyts probably don't even give a shit anymore considering that huge mansion was completely dilapidated.

When he was drinking water given to him by the daughter, Lucy, at the end I think he kind of started piecing it together again. There was almost an "oh shit" moment as he drank the water. That's why he looked back twice while he was walking back to his car. He may have decided to just leave it. She had a life now and was safe. That's what they really wanted in the end. Then again, he could have been trying to figure out why he would bring himself to that address.

Overall I thought the season was pretty good. Much better than 2 and that's a good start.

I don't think anyone was looking for her any more. Hoyt Sr. was long dead, Watts assumed she was dead, so he had quit looking in 1997. But the nuns didn't know any of that, so they kept up the story just to be sure. At least that was my understanding.

Did season 2 and 3 have supernatural undertones like seaon 1? It could be thats is what was missing. I just could not get into season 2 and stopped early. skipped 3 altogether.

Watched the first episode last night, enjoyed it a lot. I'm liking that they appear to be sticking with one chronology for the most part, at least for now. Guess we'll see if that stays consistent next week, as I could easily see snippets of the original case (Anne) getting flashback service. I was impressed with Navarro's physique during the sex scene, and looking up the actress, it make sense - she's a professional boxer.

Fargo and True Detective on at the same time is a great time for TV, at least for me. Sad Fargo's ending tonight, but this'll take the load for a few weeks, at least.

fortunately for me i only just started this season of fargo so by the time i'm done i'll hopefully have a bunch of episodes to plow through, if not entire season lol

I haven't watched 3 yet either, but I don't recall anything supernatural in 2. Unless you want to count Vince Vaughn's character continuing to walk through a desert, even though in reality he already collapsed dead yards behind where he eventually looks back.

Definitely starting to feel very supernatural, although Season One felt the same way up until the end. But the season one spiral appears to be playing a prominent role in this season. Wow, looking into it, I caught the spiral connection, but didn't catch
