Good to know, I started focusing on BLM after 2.1 and had heard the double flare didn't work anymore so I hadn't looked into it. Thanks for the link.
What you can do is have a macro like
/micon "Flare"
/wait 1
/ac "Flare" <t>
and pop it the moment you see your MP tick from UI after Transpose. There is a little margin for error but just practice at the dummies a few times and it should be easy enough. I just have Flare and macroFlare as 2 separate hotbar buttons.
I had been running Fire3 Fire2x3 Flare Convert SwiftFlare Transpose Flare Flare, but kept getting caught on the target dying for the last flare - changed to
Fire3 Fire2x3 Flare Transpose Flare Flare Convert SwiftFlare, and now I can bounce the last target as needed, as well as a safety net if I screw up the transpose timing.
I count out loud or in my head 2 seconds after the UI tick and have never missed. I got to try that fire3 -> fire2 x3 -> flare -> vert -> flare -> transpose -> swiftflare last night and I did like it. Shit was dying just as my swift flare was coming up. Still curious as to what the actual dps count is though
Which BLM crafting equip worth melding out the most, just one please. Also, which melds would be best for it?
Is there anyone that can hook me up with the accuracy caps for BLM(i90) T5 and BLM(ii110) T9? Wondering what the highest accuracy people need for those tiers of events is?
435 t5, had 434 one run and missed a fire that could of killed a dread. Could of been from front of the mob at the time dunno.
Just wonder what the stat priority is for us at the moment. I don't have any high allagan pieces yet, so I'm trying to build optimally with all the choices I have to get the new turns down.
I have one set that has 560 Crit/307 Det/409 SpellSpeed, and another that has 524 Crit/284 Det/489 SpellSpeed. Is one better than the other? Or situational? Too many variables with bards giving foe, different fights etc have really confused me on which I should be using.
It seems I hit super hard with the Crit/Det build, and I hit much less with the SS build, but faster. Should we actually be looking for a nice balance between all these, or stacking one stat over the other 3?
In an ideal world, speed is just as equal to crit/det for BLM because, unlike every other class, the main downside to speed (running out of MP/TP faster) isn't really a problem for BLM.
In practice, crit/det is more reliable. Unless you can perfectly ride the SS timer such that you interrupt yourself for movement less than crit/det build would, a SS build is kind of moot. In my opinion at least. That said, don't pass up a piece just because it has speed on it.
Or just worry about hitting the required acc and let the secondaries fall where they may.
Someone in here said they were going to compile dps charts from brayflox SR's while using specific AOE rotations. Just curious if that ever got covered and what was shown superior in that context.
It's being tossed around that fire3 > fire2 x3 > Flare > vert > flare > (ether + swiftflare) > double flare with transpose method
( ) being if you have ethers, if not I guess burn swift on the vert flare. afaik, nobody has posted real numbers to prove it is superior just that it feels better
EDIT: double post
Hmm so a hybrid rotation, I'm guessing because thats when the mobs will die. I'll try that next time see how it goes.
Yeah, without using ether the mobs were generally dead by the time I started double flares. that was with another BLM though and in Brayflox
yeah, with another good blm, a whm popping holy's and war spamming aoe, the mobs will generally be dead by the time the 2nd flare goes off. with a lesser aoe dps, like a brd, pld, sch setup but still good/well-geared, or something of the sort, you might get the ether-flare off, if you have poor dps with you...you might get off that whole rotation, maybe even 2 sets of double-flare...
