I'm sure it'll all be fine by.. oh wait, the games start in 2 days, no?
Shaun White Refuses To Ride Sochi's Dangerous Slopestyle Course
Someone's gonna die these olympics...Here's another feather that we can take out of the Sochi Olympics' cap: After injuring his wrist while on a practice run on the slopestyle course yesterday, Shaun White has decided to pull out of the event altogether. This is the first time slopestyle has been included as an Olympic event, and it just lost the sport's biggest star.
Of course, White's decision is at least in part the result of Sochi's failures. The slopestyle course is particularly treacherous, and has already caused serious injuries to a few Olympic riders. Norway's Torstein Horgmo, who was a medal hopeful, was forced to pull out of the competition after breaking his collarbone during a practice run on Monday. On Tuesday, Finnish rider Marika Enne was carted off the course with a concussion.
Russia's secret plan to win gold in all events.
Force other countries to pull out.
Olympics time?
Have to remember this
this is an interesting situation
to be fair, I believe slopestyle was one of the latest events ever to be added for the next olympics (just over 2 years), and shaun white dropping out is only a big deal in terms of publicity, it's not what he's best at and the chances of him actually medaling would be pretty low
I'll pretty much only watch hockey, unless they add ski jump jousting

Senator Steps in as Russians Block US Athletes' Chobani Yogurt Shipment
ALBANY, N.Y. February 5, 2014 (AP)
Associated Press
U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer of New York is calling on the Russian government to allow Chobani Greek yogurt to be delivered to Sochi (SOH'-chee) for U.S. Olympic athletes and NBC Studios employees.
Schumer said Tuesday that a shipment of Chobani yogurt is being held up at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey because of "unattainable" Russian Customs certifications. The U.S. Department of Agriculture has requested that Russia approve a USDA safety certificate for the yogurt, but Schumer said Russia still won't allow the shipment.
Chobani, based in upstate New York, is an official sponsor of the U.S. Olympic team. Schumer said the yogurt will be eaten only by U.S. citizens in Sochi.
A call to Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak's press office wasn't immediately returned.

SOCHI, Russia — A dog shelter backed by a Russian billionaire is engaged in a frantic last-ditch effort to save hundreds of strays facing a death sentence before the Winter Olympics begin here.
Already, hundreds of animals have been killed, with the local authorities apparently wanting the stray dogs cleared from the streets before Friday’s opening ceremony.
While the authorities say the dogs can be wild and dangerous, reports of their systematic slaughter by a pest removal company hired by the government in recent months have outraged animal rights advocates and cast a gruesome specter over the traditionally cheery atmosphere of the Games.
The handling of the matter has also sharply undercut the image of a friendlier, welcoming Russia that President Vladimir V. Putin has sought to cultivate in recent months.
“We were told, ‘Either you take all the dogs from the Olympic Village or we will shoot them,’ ” said Olga Melnikova, who is coordinating the rescue effort on behalf of a charity called Good Will, which is financed by Oleg V. Deripaska, one of Russia’s billionaire oligarchs.

But the hotels are where the Russian Games are visibly straining at the seams. In the Ekaterininsky Kvartal hotel, the elevator is broken and the stairway is unlit, with stairs of varying and unpredictable heights.so it's like a fun house! My Postmedia colleague Cam Cole’s bathtub came loose from the wall, and therefore rocks like a ship.
Saw this on FB and loled -- guess Russia won't be sharing.
I'm only a little proud of that one..
oh shit, a chance to use it properly...

I bet the people in Athens who did the 2004 summer games are smiling at how bad the Sochi games are being organized. Off the hook!
Basically at xgames, the canadians showed why they're gonna take #1 and #2, and the Norwegians might squeek the bronze/silver.
He knows he isn't gonna win, so he pulled out. ( shaun white ).
I don't know much about figure skating but I'm pretty sure that Japanese kid just fucking crushed it
Russia, this is what happens when you arrest/deport/force into hiding all of your gays. There's nobody left to decorate your Olympics.Originally Posted by Moss
