HDMI port troubleshooting?

A recent thunder storm appears to have taken out HDMI ports on 2 TVs and the "HDMI out" port my receiver.

I'm on directv, so I don't think a surge could have come in over coax (if it did, it would have taken out my cable modem and cable-based phone). No other devices were damaged directly that I've been able to tell. All of my devices in the house are on battery-backup UPS devices.

All devices turn on and appear to function, other than the message "no input detected" anytime I try to use an HDMI source. I have tried all HDMI input ports, used numerous cables, and have tried multiple inputs (direct tv boxes, the receiver, my laptop, bluray player). I have reset both TVs to default settings.

The receiver plays the sound from the incoming signals, but will not send anything through to the TV. I have been testing with the remaining tv that appears to still work.

The TV that still works, when plugged into the main directv box, sometimes loses sound, and sometimes just blacks out completely unless the HDMI is physically unplugged and replugged.

I have dismantled my main TV (58" samsung smart plasma) and pulled the motherboard so that I can order a replacement (part number BN94-03313X), but it looks like I won't have much of a choice but to replace the smaller 32" office TV as well as my receiver (5yr old Onkyo 5.1).

Before I go and spend the money to get everything fixed/replaced, does anybody have any brilliant suggestions? Maybe I missed something? Maybe some way to reset the HDMI that I haven't seen?

Does anybody know if direct will replace the boxes that appear to have issues? I'd like to just get 3 new boxes to be on the safe side (can a failing device kill the new TV or new motherboard?).

Only devices with HDMI ports appear damaged.

Went ahead and replaced one TV and awaiting the motherboard to fix the other. But I still have to replace the receiver.

Any of you with more experience with audio than me have any suggestions? I'm looking at this yamaha:

Apparently Onkyo receivers are known for their video boards blowing out, which is apparently what happened to mine.

Suggestions?

Yamaha is a good brand from what I know and yeah my friend heard the same thing about Onkyo's so he stayed away from them.

So just to update (in case anybody cares!):

Turns out directv has to have a ground, and the initial installer didn't install it. While the dish didn't get hit by lightning, I guess it can build enough static in a lightning storm to take out HDMI ports. I currently have a claim with direct, and a tech was out today to install the ground.

Useless assholes.

My shop does insurance claims for lightning damage on computer equipment... but static buildup (or whatever the tech called it) was a new one to me.
