I understand the whole "challenge" concept behind soloing, but I honestly find people who have 3 mules and do all their content by themselves a little silly.
But I also feel if I'm playing an MMO, I should be playing with people.
Which is what I dislike about this whole "psht you can solo that" mindset. I know I can solo things, that's hardly the issue.
It's just boring. <_<
On that note, how much has colrate increased?
Yorcia was 20/21 in Lakshmi before update. After update last night it was 44 and rising.
Theres nothing wrong with challenging yourself, but there comes a point when the desire to challenge ones self causes everyone else to get fucked over, ie: soloists taking 25 minutes to do AA fights with equal drop rate on mats compared to N/D/VD fights.
Anybody knows what is SE exactely patching atm?
I dunno what to say.
I can't hide I'm a bit biased about this topic.
I'm trying to understand the point of the people who think differently from me. Dasva's point made sense, altough I'm a bit skeptic about that being the reason for the majority of soloers. I think it's more about sociopathy, efficiency, personal gain and lack of trust in others.
To be honest it's not just the fruit of paranoia, sometimes (most of the times?) there are good reasons of people started to lose faith in others.
But still, while I can understand the will to solo a bit (I can feel that too at times!) there are people who bring this philosophy a bit too far, doing *everything* solo, demanding to be able to and bullying other people who don't. "Omg stop whining you can solo that!".
That kind of attitude, well, I find it a bit annoying and aside from that I think it's just negative for the game's overall health. But hey, maybe I'm just wrong.
Yeah but soloing lets you keep the mats/weapons that drop vs losing a lot on a drop to some PUG shmuck or wiping on a harder difficulty at 5% to somebody else's mistakes.
I dont believe theres anything wrong with the model that you CAN solo, but will be subjected to lower drop rates and smaller loot pools. Otherwise everyone will just solo if all things are equal.
Yeah the Colonization Rate adjustment is crazy. Yorcia and Kamihr were both under 25% before the update. Now almost every zone is approaching 80% or higher here on Shiva.
I'm trying to figure that out myself in terms of emergency maint.
And yeah, I feel it's really just the fact that your chances of dealing with PUGs versus your own, surefire skill is sometimes not a decent tradeoff.
And, let's face it. I just had a teal SCH come to our delve a week ago who mentioned he "implied his SCH was bad" but he knew how to play it. I'd rather dualbox my WHM for stuns (which isn't even a thing, you see?) than bring that ratchet mess.
So lack of trust in others is a huge factor, but some people seem to overanalyze what that means and just refuse to try giving anyone a chance.
I had something else I wanted to say, but I got caught up and forgot. Fuck.
Man, if that were to happen, you KNOW people would complain to no end.
Also, the colrate update is really nice, not gonna lie.
Does the new colo rates affect bivouac "life" by any chance? I was surprised the other day to notice on our server biv #2 in Morimar had disappared.
Didn't see a Biv disappear since the old bivouac patch some months ago.
Clearly as a developer you can't expect people to do something that annoying if you don't give them a good incentive. The (relatively) high XP/Bayld returns are obviously not enough on the long run.
Was that a pun?
Either way, it was a good way, at first, but now there's so many better ways of getting exp/bayld.
If only there were something to spend Bayld on. People have hundreds of thousands or millions of bayld but there's nothing to sink it in really.
I have millions of bayld and never even tried to gather it.
There's no new gear, no stuff you can buy and WKR now cost 15k and usually give you more than you spent on them (25k).
It just... doesn't work anymore.
But it's no surprise. History taught us that these kind of currencies never work when they're easy to farm and there's no daily/weekly/monthly cap. People just gather too much and when you reach that point it's hard for developers to insert new juicy stuff, it's hard to find that sweet spot so that it's not too expensive for new players and too cheap for the rest of the gang.
Unless theres like 15 people in the area, I usually have problems breaking even. Not that I give a shit, since I usually try for 4k xp, then afk because running 3 characters around to mobs that die within 5 seconds because 50 people in the area are circle jerking useless adds with their 3 fucking trusts, and 5 people are fighting the boss.
I wouldn't mind people putzing with nothing but the adds if they would at least get the adds away from the mages (the ones that aggro the mages or decide to fight the mobs on top of the mages) that are trying to keep people that are fighting the boss alive...sadly that seems to take more cooperation than a lot of people like to show.
At least SE added that /ignoretrust feature so mages don't have to toggle through all the things.
