Tonights the Night!
Episode 1 was actually pretty good.

Oh dear god that was awesome, they really do know how to make a comeback :D
Oh lords, its already out?
Fuck. About to watch.
\o/
idk, I thought the final scene with TGPD was trying way too hard...
Typically watch this a week late when it shows on BBC America.. this thread is usually torture.
Never before have I crossed my fingers for a Porsche to win a race before, but I do now. Jeremy is not the kind to renege on a bet.
And damn, that McLaren P1. Using ecomentalism as a force for good*, that's sheer genius!
Less sold on the Alfa. I was interested in getting an Alfa (Giulietta), but the thing is: yes, they're pretty; but they're not that interesting, even if you don't take their reputation of unreliability into account: there are always a ton of better of cars with performance/cost at any price point.
I mean, the aforementionned Giulietta is 20k € (here) for a mere 104hp engine, and it's fucking heavy (1.4 ton, IIRC) for a car that size; so basically buying anything else would grant a better perf/cost ratio.
The rest of Alfa's selection is the same story.
*good=speed, of course.
That P1 is incredible. Sweet jesus.
The P1... HNNNNNNNNGGGG
Meh episode.
Boring Caterham are boring. And seriously, I don't understand the price point of the cheap one. 17k pounds for an 80bhp engine and not much else?
Sure, it might (might!) have better performance than your average 17k pounds car, but only because it's lighter... and it's only lighter because of stuff that isn't there. So, they're doubling the price to account for all the nothing they're selling you.
Shit, I don't even understand the point of that "cheap" Caterham. Other track-day cars are all about shoving a big engine in a small carcass, that one skips the big engine.
Also: they're ugly. Especially the two-seater at the end.
That modified Alfa was ugly. The original is a lot better-looking. And since looks are its whole point... another pointless car.
The 6x6, though, was interesting. It's the kind of vehicle that has exactly one use: being featured in car show segments. Makes for a good few minutes of entertainment.
To own, though? Pointless. Would never buy even if I had the money; unlike that cop's Aventador or last week's P1.
Burma Special part 1.
Always the best eps![]()
The bit where they run out of fuel is hilarious.
This was on twitter this morning
He then followed this up by posting pics from the Top Gear Australia wrap up party, which were accompanied by some hilarious commentary. I haven't watched all of part 1 of Burma yet (I'm so fucking tired from work, I started falling asleep). I need to sit down and crank it out
Part 1 was funny as fuck, looking forward to next Sunday.
I was helping a client on something so I missed it. Knowing it's in 2 parts though I'll watch part 1 an hour before part 2 this sunday and resume there lol
Yay! Finally Top Gear at its best: the lads cocking about in a situation they're not at all familiar with. Great ep, can't wait for part 2.
Loving the special.
