Sooooo....the crew was filming for the Argentina special for the next season to air in 2015 when some locals took offense to the license plate that Jeremy was driving. His license plate H982 FLK was thought to be in reference to the Falkland War in 1982 and it pissed off a bunch of residents. It go so bad that some locals attacked the crew and they were forced to abandon the cars and flee. Locals also criticized James May and Richard Hammonds plates saying that the numbers they had on them (269 and 646) were close to the number of people that died on both sides: 255 Britons killed and 649 Argentinians killed.

This is hilarious. I hope they spend an incredible amount of time making fun of the Argentinians. The reaching with the death toll numbers shows how idiotic they were being.

The funny part about the whole thing is I read on another article how H982 FKL was the original plate for the porsche back in 1991 so it is definitely coincidental.

I mean, these are the guys who's "back up" vehicle for the Vietnam special was a motorcycle painted like the American flag, blasting Springsteen.
And when there was a cross over challenge with the German show D Motor, they made their entrance in old warplanes.

Nevermind the habit of words painted on the sides of cars so that when you open the door it spells something else completely inappropriate.

I can kind of see the first plate being kind of close to what they were talking about.....but really, the second ones are just numbers that aren't even the exact numbers and with no other context linked to them.

According to him it was a pure coincidence. And they even went as far as changing the plate when they found out. So I'm pretty inclined to think it was. That must have been frightening though, I mean, I know they were chased by rednecks in Alabama, but thousands of people chasing them to the border? That just takes it to another level
