So I went with the P4 cast for the Risky playthrough.
Making sure to use Rise's Spotlight for those emergency cures on Yu.
She's so clutch. Best waifu. :>

I haven't had a chance to play the game too much but how risky is Risky? Like Episode Aigis hard or thereabouts?
Risky, if your MC dies its a gameover.
It's the only difficulty that won't let you change it after you start.
Definitely the hardest and likely will give you unavoidable bullshit.
Yo. Don't fuck around with poison.
This shit.
nocturne style, awww yeah. i know which difficulty i'm picking!
edit- not terribly far yet, but very much enjoying the game. going in completely blind as far as familiarity with P3/P4, i decided to pick the latter. rise's turn priority ability is way too good. i am a bit disappointed with the lack of difficulty/fuck-you-factor on risky thus far, but i am only through the second floor of the first dungeon, so i'm assuming/hoping that ramps up as the game progresses.
Moridam. Wait until you hit floor 1-3 and/or trying to beat the boss of the first dungeon.
Monster spoiler:
Spoiler: show
Kanji is usually the first to die and his 'Bullshit' remark... God it's timed so perfectly with my mind shouting that.
Struggle is real. Yu & Rise are level 12 right now.
First Boss and the FOEs are still impossible. I might need to do some crazy awesome fusions but I'm not sure what.
I've managed to whittle the boss down to almost a 1/3 of its health remaining but the lack of SP and HP restoratives to keep me going are what's the nail in this coffin.
I'll just keep grinding.
Had the leader (P3 flavor) dropped to 1 HP during the tutorial battle. Perfect.
EO and Persona combined, as it as good as it sounds? I should have fucking skipped out on Pokemon for this, goddammit. Christmas bonus check is coming, so will definitely pick it up on the 10th.
Short answer: Yes
Long answer: You get what I will call the Persona story, characters, feel of the world with the mechanics and style of EO. There's some dippings into both pots here and there but overall if this sounds like liquid gold to you on paper, that's because it is. Voices are solid (even if half the cast is not the original VAs) and if you like both games I can't see how you wouldn't like Persona Q.
There's some sort of oddness going on regarding which skills are inheritable, but I haven't had a chance to test it much. Is this based on arcana, level, or something else?
This game is excellent.
"Aw man, not another beast monster. We already have a bear, a dog, and a Chie."
But, if it's a Persona game with EO mechanics. . .
..Doesn't it basically make it more of an old school Megaten game?
At which point does the ability to gain skill cards from Personas become available? I've been more or less able to snap the game in half still at the 5th floor of the second stratum via FOE hunting and sacrifice spread, but it'd be nice to be able to put some abilities on my core group as well.
Not sure if this is actually a thing or not.
I'm at the same place as you and just farming the spot near the warp after a loop; I've got Rise set as Labyrinth Navi and she's rocking two Rare Harvest+ and Harvest Attempt++s with different names. I can tell they're stacking too. A load of about 45 sellables nets me around 100k+. Then I pick out two no-skill higher level things from my compendium and sacrifice (25k money for 20k+ xp). Pretty dumb but I'm not really going to complain about it. Neko Shogun's actually pretty amazing after you get all its skills (one = damage up if you act before enemies, and another = go first for three turns and Attack+... Synergy fuck yeah).
Ken Amada (You may notice he sounds like Labrys)
Theodore
Naoto Shirogane <-- she was changed with Chie and Teddie during Golden
7 out of 19 isn't quite half (I don't count Minato in that number) but close enough to half the cast.
Rise's stuff looks really good, but Fuuka's passive healing is incredibly valuable as well; I can use physical abilities more or less nonstop as long as I can keep stocks available. Poison is still stupidly overpowered to the point where the only thing which can outdamage it on a turn by turn basis is a Power Charge > Guillotine benefiting from its ailment boost attribute. I might try to rejigger Chie's skillset so I can put Guillotine on something which can get Death's Scythe to get even more bonus from that since I've put Naoto on cleanup hama/mudo trash clearing duty.
Been working on QR-friendly fusion, here's the first result, geared towards gathering:
First High Pixie will learn Spotter at level 18, but is 3 levels lower for ease of summoning at a lower threshold. Second one already has all of its abilities pre-taught if you are of that level.
