My first question is in regards to stat allocation.
I see a couple posts about going full STR and some 15/15 STR VIT. Is it worth the DPS and parry to switch to full STR? There was a parser on the first page in the theory craft thread that showed the difference to be almost non-existent in DPS. That was also during September last year, before WAR got their much needed changes. I play on PS3 myself so I can't go and parse it.

TL;DR: Does STR allocating actually make a difference?

There's a whole bunch of discussion of it in that thread, probably buried in the mountain of posts. TL;DR is basically that if you're comfortable with having less HP, go for it, but it probably depends on where you are gear- and progression-wise. Additionally, you get more bang for your buck by just switching accessories from Fending to Gryphonskin w/ VIT melds, since it's not a 1:1 tradeoff like switching your stat allocation is.

I've got about 8400 HP in a full PT with food so I'd be just shy of 8k until I get the last 3 pieces of gear I need from coil, which I can easily live with. I was doing T4 with no issues with 7800. I know I could live easily with the STR but my biggest concern was if the DPS increase is worth the trade off

Our Coil WAR has gone with 30 STR for the past few month or so and all of his "OT" duties in T1-5 have still gone well. For 1-5, Garuda EX, and Titan EX he even puts on i90 STR accessories. Has just a bit more HP in Defiance than our PLD (7.7k I wanna say, PLD has around 7.1k with food+party), ~5.5kish in party (unsure about food) without Defiance. Hell, PLD died once on Twintania a couple weeks ago and he subbed in for the rest of the fight just fine. Ifrit EX he uses VIT accessories because it's not a major DPS race on Ifrit himself.

I'd agree that VIT-melded Gryphonskin (+Rose Gold Ear Screws) is a nice middle ground.

Is the DPS worth it? Hard to say as I don't remember his numbers before he swapped to STR. He does a bit more than my SCH does going all-out in, like, Garuda/Titan EX. Last Garuda EX we did I did about 50k damage and he says he did ~10k more if I remember right. Though I don't remember what parser he uses.

I bought a cpl reset tomes and ran to the dummy in Coerthas to do some limited testing while on lunch right now. I don't have i90 str accessories nor any melded towards str so I couldn't put STR to as much use as your OT WAR, but I was seeing about a 30-50dmg increase per hit while keeping maim and and storm's eye up fulltime. Again, no parser, and going with the 50 for easy math, comes out to an increase of 30ish DPS. Allocating all my points in str left me just shy of 8k HP and I think I'll be sitting damn close to where your WAR is when I get the accessories. 7.7 seems easy to work with on most things so long as I time my CDs correctly

Unless you're tanking Twintania 8k should be plenty for pretty much everything.

For Twin you want as much as you can get unless your group has that shit on EZ mode farm status.

as the usual MT for my t5 groups, if i didn't have to worry about the awkward transition post-profusion (where it may or may not hit you with DS when you are least prepared and everyone's trying to get into twister positions) i wouldn't mind going full str spec for that. and if you're not MT'ing twintania then i definitely wouldn't even think twice about it.

I have both PLD and WAR at similar ilevels so I have even less to think about (if I truly need the 30VIT for something the FC isn't comfortable with, I can just use PLD). But if you don't think it'll make a difference in how often you die, it's pretty downright ridiculous how much more damage WAR does with 30STR and STR/DEX accessories - depending on how aggressively you are allowed to play for a given encounter, I think you can expect an improvement of about 40% of your current DPS for the loss of 60 VIT.

For stuff like Turn 4 where there is a fair amount of AoEing to be done and long, predictable stretches where you can get out of Defiance, the difference is multiplied so you're pretty much an extra (albeit still fairly weak lol) DPS. Plus, getting buffs up and breaking 1k on Storm's Eye/Storm's Path/Butcher's Block is funny.

30 VIT + i90 VIT Accessories = +1903 HP
30 VIT + i90 STR Accessories = +544 HP +65 STR
30 VIT + i70 Melded Accessories = +1450 HP +45 STR
30 STR + i90 VIT Accessories = +1359 HP +30 STR
30 STR + i90 STR Accessories = +95 STR
30 STR + i70 Melded Accessories = +906 HP +75 STR

30 str is a nice boost also for pvp if you are into it since your hp hardly matters.

I ran some Titan ex and Ifrit ex last night with points allocated to STR with no issues regarding my HP. 7900 with food currently, it will drop more once I build this STR accessory set. But at the same time my WAR is only ilvl 84, missing earring, weapon, legs and belt so it will level out some more. I'm gonna have to feel it out for myself with how I want to go about the accessories, I may do a couple i90 STR ones and a couple melded, I'll have to play around with it and see what I like. I think keeping about 7700 HP would be more than safe, and like mentioned above, Ifrit isn't really a dps race on my part so I would just rock the i90 fending in cases like that
