I might be misunderstanding what a Meinertzhagen's Haversack is - based on a wiki blurb it's an intentional "leak" of some sort of fake plans

This is actually what the Haversack Ruse entails.

The original haversack contained documents outlining an attack plan on Germany-controlled Gaza by the British, but with a diversion attack on nearby Beersheba. In fact, the British were more interested in controlling Beersheba as a tactical position for a later attack on Gaza. When German General von Kressenstein (Barker) saw the plan, he ordered reinforcement of Gaza at the expense of Beersheba. British took Beersheba easily, allowing them to eventually secure Gaza.

This show revolves entirely around stupid bad luck shit happening to these people that ruin/fuck up their plans.

He tripped. It fucked up their plans. They'll deal with it and something new and stupid will fuck up their next plan.

It's lazy writing, but the dialogue still makes the show funny enough to watch.

This is what annoys me most about the show. Every week they start a scheme of some kind, but by the end of the episodes it's completely ruined because they fucked up (usually Richard). I hope that this is actually a set up because I want something to carry through more than one episode, especially since the episodes are only 30 minutes.
