Both sides of the existence of god(s) debate are are built around the statement "I believe". Is there a difference between the statements "I believe there is a god" and "I do not believe there is a god" -- because I'm pretty sure neither side can prove that they're correct.

True, neither side can prove they're correct. At least as far as the existence of an undefined god, like the deist god, or one/several god(s) defined with limitations, like the polytheists pantheons.
On the other hand, the existence of the abrahamic god has long been proven to be impossible; it's become so trivial that even Homer Simpsons stumbled on one proof.


A sane person errs on the side of nonbelief when lacking proof either way. Otherwise, well... better start protecting yourself from hordes of grumpkins and snarks.



As for Aquinas, honestly, his arguments are no more and no less intelligent than a more modern take; they're just worded in a deliberately obfuscating way. The "prime mover" argument remains as easily countered whether it's Aquinas' version or anyone else's.

Math isn't a tangible thing, but it's definitely something that exists outside of humanity. Different people are capable of discovering the same mathematical concepts (calculus being the most important example that comes to mind), and different civilizations also discover math in roughly the same logical progression.

The simplest explanation for how this works is that math is the language we use to describe reality, and reality exists with or without us (solipsist nonsense aside).

There's a barn alongside I-70 outside of Lawarnce that says "Know god know Peace No God No Peace" Which is way more rage inducing.
