its not about security. they were doing a thing where they would give you, lets say, 80 mbps to your modem, but only let you use 50 mbps of it and allocate the reserved 30 mbps for roaming service members to log into your modem and have access to wifi almost anywhere.

edit: i htink a lot of isp are going to be looking into doing this to expand their "network" and allow more wifi access to members so they wont have to use up their data plans.

Seen a few articles around about the House investigating Obama having too much influence on the FCC regarding net neutrality so now they are investigating them. Since ISPs fund so many politicians couldn't they use them to start a bunch of bullshit and delay the vote on the 26th?

Inflation, not so much. More so non-real world speed.

Those speedtests are set to run on ideal servers that are close by. It all depends on where you are downloading from and if they have any caps on their upstream speeds. You can have 100mbps speed and still only DL content at 4 mbps if that is the limit it is capped at. Not sure what youtube speeds cap at, but it doesnt saturate my dl speed.

What a bother. I fail to see what the issue is with the President wanting to help on this matter. Why don't they bring up in House just how terrible these ISPs handle their businesses and services? I'm sure there's a mountain of reasons why they need to be better regulated that'd matter a lot more than trying to make it look like Obama is power-tripping again.

No, I mean it was shown that Ookla works with Verizon and Comcast to artificially inflate their speeds. So beyond non-ideal and straight into lies.

Summary: Verizon sold off hardline phone/internet stuff because net neutrality is going to hurt them. In reality, they received tons of subsidies and tax breaks to build a network they haven't even finished building.
