Hope you got a boss ass candidate cause Cruz is a strong politician/debater no matter how you feel about him.

Cruz was a parli debater, which explains why his style is just to grand stand and make people think he knows his stuff just because he projects really earnest belief.

True wonks tend to come from policy debate, where you actually craft hypothetical policy proposals and you have to debate the implications of that proposal (the effects of deficit spending, effects on foreign relations, etc.)
