Well damn if we're talking arcade nostalgia:

Xmen, the big-ass 6 player cabinet.
Gunblade: A video doesn't really do it justice because the "light gun" for this game was a huge-ass mounted helicopter gun turret that rumbled like crazy when you fired.
DDR: Tried it once at a birthday part around 10ish. Got into it for a good 8 years or so, though not really better than Standard. Even bought one of those bulky metal pads for the home versions.
Dungeons and Dragons: Shadow over Mystara

ffxi and specifically MNK, I'm still hooked on video games (Monster Hunter 3U lately) but I can't play ffxi anymore and I was never able to play just a little. I get anxiety just thinking about ffxi the longing is so bad. It was my heroin, and nothing will ever come close. Also I miss some of the people really badly. A friend that went into a coma and died, a stupid(ok not stupid) girl in Europe who broke my heart. I just wanted to play 16 hours a day every day

occasionally, I think I still wish, deep down, that I could find a girl who liked ffxi as much as I did and we'd play all the time together but still function outside of ffxi, going to work, sleeping and eating properly, not the super fiending I used to do

    nostalgia factor for other games:
Mario RPG was also my first big one, and later FFVII
    Ocarina of Time (duh)
    Borderlands and Borderlands 2

more than those, I'd say Ad-Hoc party for Monster Hunter Freedom Unite (I think, I get the versions mixed up, it had Daimyo and Tigrex in it, and was on PSP)
used to play with Shiro, Kiara, Neosutra, and one other, I'm derping on his name, he posts infrequently these days

Reading all this makes me wish that we all could have one, pre abyssea, XI server to all start over on.

Even if you take Abyssea out of the picture though, how many of us were at the point to quit, and Abyssea was just the final piece? And more importantly, how many actually have the time/desire to go back.

I know its a nostalgia thread, But Abyssea still offered what would be considered oldschool solid alliance content up until around the third expansion when 3 atmas just made the game face-rolling. (and subsequently adjusted content for low man groups since the dissolving of most major LS)

Regardless, My biggest nostalgia games would probably be...

    1) Super Mario RPG
    2) Diablo II
    3) Megaman X
    4) Star Ocean: Second story
    5) Megaman Legends
    6) MGS1
    7) Perfect Dark (multiplayer with friends)

Most of my memories are from early PS1/N64 era and a lot of super nintendo, never got into the arcade things. gaming has been a big part of my life, and still very much is. I don't think that part of me will ever leave, i will always make time for my hobbies, and while I may not have the time i used too back in school, I definitely find the time to still enjoy myself, and even sometimes go back to the classics.

I could have bought an 11 pull and have 1000 gems left over, but all I got was this silly title.

Welp! I just spent the last thirty minutes looking through FFXI-AH for people I used to know. Sad to see how few are still playing..

Also, fuck Valefor -- had to look at old screenshots to remember what some people's names were after Kujata merged..

    1. FFXI - All the reasons above, nostalgia, good times, people, dunes, CoP, sea drop rates and aery drama. Started playing with Xbox360 Beta (ToAu launch) I still play now, with 3 IRL friends but the game is desolate as it gets, does hit the feels sometimes when I go to Whitegate and it's absolutely dead. P.S My name on this forum is actually my character Lidenbok, and the LS I was in on Ifrit at the time, Valour. It was super serious!

    2. Final Fantasy: Tactics (Advance) - Never played the normal tactics, but I had some great times with a real life pal on the GBA title. The link up missions were awesome!

    3. WoW - Started playing WoW in TBC. Played it off and on through the years when FFXI got quiet. I get really nostalgic about WOTLK, dem feels on the lich king kill cutscene and Ulduar. Need I say more? oh and Karazhan as well. I would be lying if I said I weren't stoked for WoD. :/

Top 3 nostalgia filled games in my life!

Honestly I lost the drive to play after WotG failed hard. There was literally nothing to do in all the [S] zones. No endgame content at all. Now with the rampant power inflation I'm sure it's not the same game at all. And of course most of the people I used to hang out with either quit or got caught up in the salvage bans. So there's no point in going back for me.

The only other game I am nostalgic for is Diablo 2. But unlike many people, I am very happy with Diablo 3, so at least there's that.

Sometimes I still get Windurstian or Summer Fest music in my head. Or Ronfaure, or ToAU, or any zone. Probably would've kept playing had my PC been more easily converted to a set-up I would enjoy playing FFXI on and the community hadn't been plummeting below 1000 per server. I played briefly after the PS2 died, but I struggled to find a cheap PC controller I enjoyed that my non-bluetooth 2006 desktop could use and the community had died anyways so not much pointing hunting further. Have logged on maybe twice since FFXIV 2.0 beta phases began. Will definitely always miss though.
You could always use your PS2 controller with one of these:

That's what I use when I play on PC. Still have both my PS2s running also, and a way to install Adoulin.

FFXI salvage bans were some of the most hilarious moments on this board.

I think I missed out on that, was still mad at the game after PW (though I didn't officially 'quit' till like a year after).

I just remembered 'the Chu Challenge' or something similar sounding now that I think of it, that (may have) started on Seraph and spread to other servers.... for trying to survive Fafnir/Nidhogg's breath attack while taking the most damage. That shit was hilarious lol.

But Campaign!!!! Are you saying you didn't like having to AFK while attacking walls for hours??
