I'd murder someone for a proper, turn based RPG, PS V.

lets forget about the WD english intro

Yeah, having a Genesis instead of a SNES meant fewer RPGs, but at least they were all pretty solid.

Street Fighters, Samurai Showdowns, and King of Fighters @ the arcades. There's a feeling ya get when a group of peeps cheer/boo for you, it was awesome. What's cooler than people handing you quarters to beat the guy they couldn't beat? An arcade that was shown in Rocky and Terminator.

Saw a few people mention FF tactics. Man I love that game, I need to emulate the new version to play with DRK and Onion Knight.

I remember playing it way back in the day, and getting to the middle of chapter 2 before I realized you could change jobs, did it all with squires and chemists lol...also remember going 4hrs w/o saving and then getting a random battle with like 7 monk enemies all with earth vests who would constantly heal each other up with earth slash or w/e it was called...fucking was so pissed when I died.

God, where to start? Fuck it, I'll try to do chronological or some shit:

    1) Excitebike: fuck yeaaaaaaaaaaaaah, that was the hotness. On original Nintendo I prolly only put more time into Megaman 2.

    2) Metroid

    3) A Link to the Past: still play it to this day

    4) Final Fantasy VI: Super nintendo started the RPG revolution and I'll list most of em in this one entry, but VI stands alone. It is the reigning monarch of all things that rpg's should aspire to, at least in execution. What did it have? Engaging story? check. Cast of (likeable) characters? check. Beautiful graphics (hell, even the sprites were pretty)? check. Memorable music? are you fucking kidding me? How about setting the goddamned standard. and finally...villain? Kefka stands out as one of the best villians in gaming history. I could do this for pages, but this game just plain fucking delivered. And the original translation is still best, because...submarines. To be fair, the other RPG's that I loved on SNES: FF IV, Mana, Evermore, Brainlord(try it!), Super Mario RPG, Illusion of Gaia, Chrono Trigger. SNES was packed with good rpgs and PS1 continued the tradition.

    5) Mario Kart: I ain't gotta explain shit, you know what I mean.

    6)Diablo II

    7) Perfect Dark: God, this game was incredible. If you only played Goldeneye, you missed out.

    8) Starcraft: Brood War

    9) PS1 RPGs: Fuck, so many: Final Fantasy Tactics, FFVII, FFIX, Xenogears, Valkyrie Profile, Star Ocean: The Second Story, Tales of Destiny. Seriously, that's just the ones off the top of my head but fuck, it was a good time.

Valkyrie Profile and Xenogears are the big standouts for me, here. I put waaaay more time into star ocean2 and FFT than either one, but the story was so engaging in them. Xenogears stands on its own and needs no help. VP filled my nordic taste for all things awesome, especially when run by Tri-Ace.
    Lezard, getting his boom on:

    10) Resident evil, et al. Also, Onimusha

    11) FFXI. Just...yeah

    12) Civilization IV. ...FUCK YOU ISABELLA, IF I WANTED ME TO BE HINDU, YOU SHOULD HAVE SPREAD IT.

Fuck, I'll just stop here, but there's so many.

But yeah, VI. If you liked the music, I recommend you check out "Balance and Ruin"

You know I was going to make a post about how awesome FFXI was but decided to reactivate my account and give it one last go. I'm going to go back and visit all the things I didn't, level the jobs I wanted and do whatever the fuck I want before this game kicks the bucket for good.

Yea the game isn't the same and there isn't 200 people in valkrum dunes anymore either but the game is still there. There are still people playing and there is loads of content I didn't get to do because I always jumped into endgame HNM running around but not this time.

I'm on Quetz which I think got merged to midgarstorm? Well whatever it is I'll be playing this week for sure :D

    Arcade:

    1. TMNT
    2. Simpsons
    3-5. Time Crisis Series

My dad and I used to play Simpsons and TMNT together at the arcades in the evening when we went on vacation. Time Crisis is just my thing. I love the game and have the PS version with the light gun and all.

My cousin and I spent many, many hours on each of the Time Crisis games. Good times.

I think the voice acting/dialogue in the first game is in a higher tier than Starfox 64, but had much less exposure.

Dance, baby, dance! Dance to the death!

I could talk about a lot of games. Ultima 7, the snes rpgs. I got dragon warrior with a nintendo power subscription and was hooked on JRPGs from then on.

I think a well modded Morrowind is the best single player game ever made. I would kill for a newer remake of that and Ultima 7. Loved dukenukem 3d and half life multiplayer.

FFXI though... It ruined games for me. Nothing else gives me that same feeling. I just can't get into anything. I want that grind to xp and forced party mechanics. I've hardly played anything since, I just lose interest and would rather do something else. Why did they have to ruin it with abyssea =/ Maybe I just got old

Lol fucking Time Crisis, me and my childhood friend would play the 2nd one so much at the arcade the entire scoreboard was just us. We also broken the guns eventually where the recoil action on them was fucked up because we played for so long the springs must have worn out. Money well spent!

I see a few people mentioned Unreal Tournament 99' (instagib4eva). Game is actually still going strong with lots of tournaments and has a new custom made netcode; which is better then Quake Live's IMO. Clanbase is officially dead, but many are congregating to GlobalUnreal, which has had up to 250+ signups for some of their tourneys.

The game is pretty easy to get free. I wonder if I knew any of your guy's nicknames back then.
