Wow, this patch is great! Lots of quality of life adjustments.

    - The period during which players are unaffected by curative magic after being revived has been reduced.
    - A ready check command has been implemented to confirm the status of party members before or during a duty.
    - Players can now refresh the list of recruiting parties using the Refresh Search Results button.
    - Players can now customize order of appearance for quests in the Duty List.
    - Camera positioning when players are near walls has been adjusted.
    - The focus target bar will now remain visible even when the indicated target is no longer on screen.
    - In order to improve mouse targeting, the following adjustments have been made:
    • The clickable target box for characters has been enlarged.
    • An option to highlight potential targets has been added. To enable this feature, select "Highlight potential targets." on the Target tab under Control Settings in the Character Configuration interface.

    - Waymarks have been added.

90% positive that the ready check won't be Alliance-wide, though. Which kind of defeats the purpose for the one instance that really needs it.

lol ok (also to the rest of you unbelievers):

    Regarding future of PS3 version:
Do you plan to continue to support the PS3 version even after the PS4 version is released?

Y: At this moment, we've already begun work on the expansion pack, and I can tell you that at the very least the PS3 version will be supported up to that point.

Does that mean there's a possibility that PS3 users will no longer be able to continue playing beyond that expansion?

Y: It may be a possibility in the future.

How far off in the future are we talking about here?

Y: That will depend on how long people continue to play on the PS3. I've mentioned in the presentation this morning that I want to make sure that "FFXIV continues to innovate", and there's certainly the possibility that whatever innovation we seek will come with certain technical requirements. For example in EQN, which I mentioned earlier, it would not be possible to realize certain things like physic-based gameplay without meeting the hardware prerequisites. So if this becomes something that players want and we start to see people leave for rival products, then we can't just sit around twiddling our thumbs either. After all, we too need to ensure we have the necessary weapons to take on other MMORPGs in the future.
For example, if we were to have a large-scale FATE where players can ride on a flying mount and freely fly around and swoop down at a dragon that is 200 meters long, players would probably be impressed and entertained. However, it would also require us to raise the minimum requirement when it comes to hardware specs.
Our aim has always been to develop the game so that players can have the same experience no matter which hardware they play on. However, if we were to become too fixated on this and become unable to innovate, then this will cease to be a FF game. So I do not plan to say that we will support the PS3 version forever. At the same time, I'm not saying that we'll be ending support by next year or anything like that either, so don't worry.
straight up translation end here. so much work lol
PS3 version will be supported until at least 3.0

It's just as I was saying earlier in this thread. SE is gonna drop PS3 support like a bad habit when they get the chance. Especially since they know Japanese love Sony systems; they know the migration from PS3 to PS4 will be easy.

Great news, I'm glad that PS3s days will be numbered and that they will not make the same mistakes that they made in the past.

    On the subject of crafting:

Craftsmanship, control, and CP parameters now influence the success rate and HQ rate of Quick Synthesis.
I'm guessing this is to combat materia grinding? (e.g. equip gathering gear and quicksynth NQ food until spiritbound)

I dare not hope that having max-meld crafting gear will result in a reasonable quicksynth HQ %.

It's a shame the damage has already been done, unless they plan on doing the huge workload that would be making zones not feel like a series of interconnected instances.

Nice QoL patch though, especially for SCHs. No more Eos blowing her load because I forgot to hit Obey immediately after a resummon. Still would like it if they fixed pet CD usage to make me not have to spam the damn thing to ensure they use it as their next skill.

Curious to what extent stuff looks 'wet', since that just seems like a waste of resources as far as PS3 is concerned. The patch is nearly 2gb on PS3 at any rate, guess they're flat out replacing entire chunks of data instead of just what changed.

M armory is going to fill up a bit more with the new achievement rings though. Not that I'm complaining since more stats is more stats.

Probably, since I have no idea how else you can interpret that.

As the ability to summon mounts and minions simultaneously as well as hope of being able to summon the chocobo without the silly party restrictions. Wishful thinking, these were abridged notes after all.

Controller Lag : I logged in briefly before work and notice the controller was lagging badly, especially when I would hit right trigger to change macro sets, anyone else on controller notice a lag?

Only 'lag' I noticed was my camera lock-on (L3) not working the odd time when I did a quick low-lvl roulette an hour ago on PS3.

On that note, 2.16 fixed the problem I was having with the camera not wanting to move in/out while it was locked on.

Or you could have spent a hundred bucks and got a SSD and solved everything (I swear my responsiveness is better than most PC players now)

Also, possible break from the update, now when I list items on the MB after inputting the price and pressing down twice the cursor is on "Cancel" instead of "Accept" which lead to some mistakes trying to list stuff this morning.

While it's a good idea somewhat, a plague that people do with that button is:

    Initiate check
    23/24 are ready
    someone checks again
    22/24 are ready
    someone else decides to wait
    someone else initiates a check
    24/24 are ready
the guy main tanking decides to check again just incase
    initiates check again

I rather we just pull lol (once we're all beyond the line)

Anyway, has the in-progress queue been fixed yet, or has some sort of cooldown? Didn't see it mentioned; also did myth/coil lockout/extreme primals reset with this maint? So many people last night tried to get it done before maint (also described in description)

Think that was mentioned to be a 2.2 thing (or "sometime in the future"), if I'm not mistaken.

All achievement items (up to this patch, I haven't tested any of the new items) are storable in the Armoire. Also, the new rings are shit (iLv55), unless I'm missing something.

I could see the new rings being nice for someone hitting 50 on their first job. Especially if you are a job that doesn't have the option to use two darklight rings. But yeah, once you have other stuff, they are kinda pointless.
