    get dat vasectomy

    /anecdotal
BC is pretty reliable with competent women. I've left a few hundred loads inside across like 7 different BC options. Maybe I'm sterile.

Birth control is 99% effective when taken properly. I take the ones that require you to take them at the exact same time every day. I have an alarm set on my cell phone, so I never miss it. But a lot of women can't really handle that and they end up missing it by a few minutes, or a few hours, etc.

I trust the pill (5 years track record speaks for itself, honestly), but it doesn't hurt to use a second method.

Re Pulling out: Yeah so I hear. My timing is key I guess.

In regards to vasectomy/tubal lit... just not for us. I'm not big on anyone cutting into my sack, regardless of how "minimal" the procedure may be. Same thing for my wife.

I was successful pulling out for 12 years. I'll take my "risks" for the remaining 20-30ish with a 99% effective rate method lol.

that patch thing is pretty gnarly, probably best overall but can increase blood pressure / heart rate stuff in certain people

the ring inside was weird, and I could definitely tap against and feel that thing

the weird clamp things that pinch tubes for like 10 years seem fine, and I don't really feel the strings or whatever is in there for the obgyn to fish that shit outta there

    pills are pills

the rod thing in the arm is srs biz. I was not at all worried about fertilization there

I've had the IUD for about 7 months so far. Hurt like a bitch going in, which the Dr said is hit or miss.

My sister and her husband pulled out for 6 or 7 years, then got wedding night pregnant. She said it was the first time they didn't try NOT to get pregnant. (Did I do all those negatives right?)

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

I'm doing the IUD route. I still want the possibility there in case I change my mind about two kids onry. (I doubt it, but it could happen.)

I agree with aks on the whole pill thing. I was on the pill when I get preggo this time, but it was the breastfeeding-safe one (which is INSANELY picky on when you take it). Wasn't really easy to use when substitute teaching since my hours varied so wildly.

Yeah I take the same pill, it has the least hormones so it's least likely to make you a raging bitch. I have an alarm every morning so I take it at the same time, and of course I have to make the update to my alarm when daylight savings time changes and I bet a lot of people actually forget about that. That one is very picky about. If I end up taking it late (has only happened once in 5 years), we use a backup method for three weeks just to be on the safe side.

Ya we were kinda lazy about extra stuff. Using condoms randomly etc.

I had an alarm too but I'd fall back asleep sometimes if I didn't get called in, or I'd be in the car driving 'cause I got called in last minute or w/e.

Tried doing it at night but I'd get UTIs and blood spots so NOPE.

We use(d) the pull-out method and never had any problems...It only didn't work 6 times in 13 years....What % is that?

Not as good of a percentage as mine lol.

Unless you two are screwing like 6x a day.

I'm most excited to get one of these to be blatantly honest:

That's great! We have one almost exactly like that. I think my favorite part of parenting is getting to put together all the new and nifty stuff for the kids.

Not the putting together part, but the part where I get to play with toys again and it's not weird.

My 3 year old has just started getting into lego. That was awesome to drag out my bins of it that I had stored at my parent's place.

Also, playing Super Mario Brothers Wii with him is absolutely awesome. His Aunt just taught him how to pick things up, so now he spends most of the time trying to catch me and toss me into lava.

    That's awesome.

My kids love to play video games. My ex bought them a Wii a few years ago and both of them the new DS for Christmas. Last time I went, my oldest son was playing Guitar Hero nonstop so every time I hear "Slow Ride" and "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" it reminds me of my son. They also had me addicted to a few Facebook games for a while. I love that my kids can game with me though.

Oops I did it again ~

Man that SMBWii scene is hilarious. I will have some frustratedparent if my kids aren't all about being cooperative in that neutral-ish setting of platformer. I will quickly be changing games to ruthlessly beat that ass if they want some.

Throw me in the lava one more time.

    FUCK YEAH LEGOS

also, aks, you mentioned the timing being off with BC by a few minutes. is it really that sensitive, that a few minutes would matter?

No chance of me changing my mind and wanting more kids - been left with such bad problems after the two I've got that I'm not risking it again. Basically had SPD that makes you feel like someone's been kicking you in the crotch with steel toe cap boots repeatedly and ended up on crutches both times barely able to walk - it's meant to go away when the baby's born in like 95% of cases or something... hasn't with me - despite physio and as much help as the doc can throw at it - I'm still in a helluva lot of pain from it all now to the point I'd struggle to do my old job again, and wouldn't risk making it even worse with another pregnancy.

Not looking forward to my two getting to the age where they're into Lego though - I managed to kneel on a piece of duplo at a baby group a month or two ago - bloody hell they could use that as a new form of torture.

My son is 2 and he is really getting into Duplo and he got a ton of them for his 2nd birthday a couple weeks ago. They are EVERYWHERE in our living room now. And they are by far the most painful of his toys to step on. But he loves them and they are really fun. He has a whole zoo worth of different animals in duplo too. Elephants, horses, goats, a giraffe, lion, tiger, bear, etc. Pretty fun.
