Warner Bros. and Legendary are building out their Minecraft franchise. An untitled sequel to A Minecraft Movie will arrive in theaters on July 23, 2027, Warners announced Thursday.

The video game adaptation was an outsized hit earlier this year, grossing $957.8 million globally — the second highest grossing movie of the year — and set off a hot streak for Warners, which followed it up with a series of hit movies such as Sinners, Final Destination: Bloodlines and Weapons.

Jared Hess returns to direct and will write the script with Chris Galletta, one of the scribes of the original.
