Last night's episode was tailor made to draw parallels between the lead propaganda and the climate science deniers.

I liked this week's episode a lot better than previous when it came to the obvious stabs at religion vs. science. Earlier episodes seemed to say "How can religion possibly think this is right?" while this one simply gave a history of why religion believed it was right. Obviously there are some political agendas in these episodes - and I'm surprised Fox is ok with it - but giving objective lessons on different backgrounds in history fits better for a series such as this.

Also glad this one seemed to stay on track and not go off wild tangents.

Who says Fox is OK with it? It's Seth McFarlane they're going against, who has two shows that give them tons of good ratings. Also, remember the censoring the first episode had in some cities? Those branches of Fox weren't OK with it, obviously.

Woo an episode on how stars live and die. I don't even mind the reuse of the black hole FX, I love hearing about how insane stars get. Damn space you scary.

I love the show but it makes me feel absolutely worthless in the grand scheme of things. Not that I'm gunna be a jerk because of my worthlessness but y'know. The selfish part of my consciousness likes to think I have a purpose

As long as you do anything in your life that assists getting humanity off the planet and permanently to the stars, you will always have had a part in something that begins to approach the grandness of the universe.

Great post, I feel the exact same way. Cosmos is a delicious dose of humility and frailty that everyone on the planet should have. I love how they instilled urgency and put our current state of climate change into perspective at the end. The writing is superb.

I love episodes like this one, where it focuses almost entirely on one superhero scientist and what he goes through to change the world. I guess it helps that electromagnetic forces are easier to visualize than some of the conceptual stuff covered previously.

That's one of the things that the show does really well, I think. It doesn't just spit science at you. It tries to personify it, and tell a story about science. As someone who isn't as well-versed on the physics side of things, this approach makes it a lot more engaging and interesting.

The show's creators have definitely surpassed my initial expectations. I remember how skeptical I was when it was announced that it was going to be on Fox and Seth was going to help with it (wasn't a huge concern for me, but always conscious of celeb power). This is TV at it's finest. I can't wait to watch all the behind the scenes stuff and hours of commentary.

    Uruk, Iraq
    Epic of Gilgamesh, Deluge Legend

They really are going out of their way to piss of the core FOX viewer.
