They really are going out of their way to piss of the core FOX viewer.
Maybe FOX News viewer, but the average viewer of fox and Fox News are very different.

The main theme sounds like a one-off Final Fantasy Tactics track.

Others compare the opening music for the new Cosmos to Star Trek pieces. And while it isn't a lift, since Brannon Braga (who was a Star Trek exec) is an exec for the show, if he had say in picking it and his tastes haven't changed, that's why you get something similar.

"Cosmos is on hiatus next weekend because Fox is putting on the Sprint Nascar Cup. So, I got all ornery about that and said, alright, I get it. This is what I'm going to do. I'm going to tweet during the Nascar race all the physics you'll be looking at."

NDT's enthusiasm is infectious. Downloaded and shot through all the episodes so far over the last couple days. I'll probably be getting them on bluray sometime lol.

I do like how they're trying to show that this was a global effort, naming folks from all walks of life who advanced us, and the problems they faced. Seeing a brief "how" on lots of stuff, and presented through little stories, was damned wonderful.

I can hope a reaction to that episode goes big tomorrow. Especially the end.
Probably not, but I can hope.

Awesome episode. Really like that they acknowledged the other sides arguments against climate change and detailed why they're wrong.

This episode felt like the biggest push of his own personal arguments towards these political no-no's that are going on today.
I really hope that people don't outright deny his claims just because they saw it on tv.
This show is amazing, and I hope he continues doing it

The whole "solar and wind power can stop global warming" was pretty terrible though. The scale and cost are formidable for the wealthiest country in the world, impossible for most of the rest the world.

I can see why the point is so contentious. Technically, they can stop it because the power is there. However, you're also right that currently the monetary cost is just too high for countries to simply "switch over to." I'd argue that the hope is to invest more now so that the tech develops faster and becomes cheaper sooner.

And that right there is a big part of the problem.
Because it's being judged on monetary cost, instead of, you know, the real cost of fucking up the house to the point it becomes condemned.

Have to pay to clean up the mess we made. I'm ok with that.

So I was at Star Talk Live! last night in NYC, Neil was there of course (hosts) as well as Bobby Kennedy Jr., who's a big environmental lawyer.

Bobby mentioned a stat that solar energy plants/infrastructure costs something like $3bil/Gig to install, the same as Coal/Oil. The difference is Coal/Oil you have to go find the actual product and buy it, refine it, ship it, etc. Not sure how accurate that is, but he was painting it like setting up NEW infrastructure, solar is the same cost as Coal/Oil, without needing a constant source of resource.

But The Jerbs! Those Mining Jobs are disrupted the moment you put up these self sustaining plants. American people much rather have Black Lung then cheaper/healthier lives. I'm oversimplifying it but yeah.

This "thing" is not a technological issue, but a socio-economical issue.
