    Honestly, I don't see this happening, at least in the way that people picture it. It seems too early for something that big to be spoiled already. I would expect it to end up with him nearly dying and it being treated as such, but not actually dying. The only reason I'd doubt that is that they already played that card twice in the last two movies with Bucky and Fury.

    It still just sort of reeks of a red herring intentional leak to get people interested. One way or another, I don't expect he'll stay dead for long, given how non-permanent every comic book death is.

    I really, really fucking hate the "<superhero> died, <person> is the new <superhero>" concept when it comes to certain characters. It works fine with some, like Thor, Iron Man, and Green Lantern, where the title has more to do with the object than the person who held it. But some, like Cap, Wolverine, Spider-man, etc are clearly just trying to pass real-world brand recognition/popularity on to some other character. I think Cap's shield is uniquely specialized to Steve Rodgers, and shoehorning other people into using it when they already had their own skillset is pretty stupid.

    Batman throws a bit of a loop into it. I'm fine with Robin always being defined as Batman's sidekick, and with someone who isn't Bruce using the title/costume as an intimidation tactic.

    I'm fine with the shield being passed to another. Really hoping it's Bucky, but I like Falcon too. I doubt any of this matters for which Cap faces Thanos, but it'll be a pretty emotional moment for the MCU. Haven't really had a big loss since Coulson. (who is still dead to me, fuck AoS) I'd say Quicksilver too, but Whedon's version was pretty disposable.
