STUDENT ATHLETES
why yes it is the oldest joke in the book thank you
The little girl that was a huge Michigan state fan...she dead. Sadfaces all around.
Yeah, super depressing. The entire team is devastated by it. Couldn't imagine how AP is feeling .
Came in to say go huskies. Worth it because my tuition sky rocketed after they won in '99 to pay for more sports, so it's good my money went somewhere.
But ya, UConn destroyed womens basketball (lol) by winning every year. During that era I think there was a huge jump in people being excited about the sport. Now, no one bothers since they always win.
Also, no couches were tipped afaik. These kids are weak. I saw a picture of the student union though lol.
I feel really bad about stories like Princess Lacey when they end like that. True, in a sense it is very poetic that she loses her fight not long after MSU is eliminated. But I feel really bad for the family (And AP) having that extra focus on their loss that might not happen even if this occurred 2 or 3 weeks from now.
Still very sad.
In other news, does anyone care that a UMass player is gay? They still are terribad.
I don't think anyone cares, but at least UMass made the tourney.
Calipari's NCAA reform plan:
http://espn.go.com/mens-college-bask...union-new-book
Among his ideas presented in "Players First: Coaching From the Inside Out," which is scheduled to be published on Tuesday, the WSJ reported that Calipari presents a 13-point plan for NCAA reform. Among them:
• Players should receive stipends of $3,000 to $5,000;
• The NCAA should cover eligible players' insurance premiums;
• Athletes should be able to accept loans up to $50,000 against future earnings;
• If a coach leaves an institution, players should be able to transfer from that program without having to sit out a season;
• Athletes should be allowed one round-trip flight home every year.
That 50k loan part upsets me. It's like "hey guys, you're making us a metric-shit-ton of money, so we'll let you borrow some while you make us more money."
