Despite his catastrophic season, Chris is still producing enough that I'm not that pissed he's being given everyday playing time. Especially considering his advanced numbers suggest he should be doing a bit better than he is.

That motherfucker needs to spend every waking moment of his life learning to adjust his stance to beat the goddamn shift, though. I swear to Christ.

The other thing he's been completely decimated on is the middle-inside pitch that gets called strikes even when they're not on him due to his positioning. He needs to recognize that pitch and swing at it. But he can't. Because Texas strong.

Still somehow has > 20 HR and lots of RBI, so whatever. I'll take my Adam Dunn sans walks.

i'll need to see more out of jake before i believe it completely but he definitely looks reformed. thought hammel did too though, but as you say jake's advanced metrics seem to say he's the real deal.

my jimmies are not rustled by that trade. no one was going to succeed with the pitching coaches and system we had. dave wallace has turned the entire pitching staff around and it hasn't even been a year yet.

wada on the other hand i am very curious to see what happens there. we were so excited about him here for a little while.

EDIT: Also a little fun fact about jake for rhinox - the O's system does not like to let pitchers use cutters. the only guys we have that use it came here from trades/FA. they think that it is bad for their arms and that it would increase risk of TJ. I personally think that's bullshit because there are plenty of other pitches you absolutely have to have that are nearly as bad for your arm as the cutter. TJ is always a risk. but anyway some analysts have posited that jake being allowed to cutter it up over in chitown has helped tremendously. i have not seen him enough to form that opinion or not but thought it was interesting
