After working for my parents since I was 15, I got my first real job interview today, nailed it and I'm 99% sure I have the job. Working at a company that locates utility lines whenever there's construction. $13/hr and time and a half over 40 hours/week, benefits etc.

This is after being perpetually broke because I've been working like 3 hours a week for like 6 months now due to business slowing down.

Hubby is getting laid off in June. You might be wondering why this is in the win thread, but after a day of anxiety, the realization came that this was a good time for him to get laid off compared to any other time.

As some know, I have been working as a long term sub in SD, while hubby has been stuck in LA (we visit each other on the weekends). We have wanted to get out of LA the moment we arrived, and now it's finally going to happen. He never had time to work on his demo reel because he was always working crazy hours. And our lease has been month to month for awhile. Not to mention, we have a little bit of a nest egg. Between his unemployment and my subbing (and shacking up with his parents for a little bit) we will be alright until one of us can finally get a decent permanent job.

Not to mention, I got luck at the job I am at. Technically, tomorrow was to by my last day. But a history teacher mysteriously disappeared a few weeks ago. They have asked me to take over for him to finish off the rest of the school year. It's only an extra two months of pay, but they pay their subs extremely well. There are also some whipsers that if I do well as a history teacher I could possibly continue in that position full time. Private schools don't require you to be certified in the area you teach, and if I were to teach it for three years I could apply to get the cert automatically. Now, I am not going to completely hold out hope. I never expected to teach History in my life. I am going to have to do some mad studying to be able to answer kids questions (and they can throw out some random ones) to sound like I know my shit. We shall see.

Definitely one of those things falling into place moments. Hopefully things work out all around.

Still looking for something new with a liveable wage, myself. Though kinda further limited here since I can't go deep into manual labor with past back/knee injuries. Sadly, the only thing really "booming" around here is coal and/or frakking.

For what I've seen involving kids already, there isn't much worse I can see/imagine.

Would've loved to be a K9 officer, but I don't meet the living requirements with my current department (own certain size house, fenced in backyard, no other animals )
