not with the rise of credit card fraud, more places are starting to eliminate them.
Don't quote me on it, but I think california either did or tried to ban manual slips for credit cards due to fraud. Long long ago I used to work at Comp USA as a security guard/loss prevention and shortly after I left, several people including the HR manager got nailed hard for credit card fraud due to manuals. Since every credit card was a manual there, a few people would take some of the manuals, and ring up a second identical transaction, and take the goods, and then when the customer got double billed, they would call their credit card company and let them know they must have been double charged and put in a dispute.
A few years ago, I messed up my knees the first time I got past the 30 km mark while training for my first marathon.
First orthopaedist told me that my legs weren't made for running, second one treated my legs with electricity, which helped at first, but didn't last very long.
Following that, I figured that maybe orthopaedist #1 was right after all and stopped running. Started again after two years, but had nothing but aching knees to show for running longer distances.
After another break, I wanted to give it another go and got some advice while buying new shoes. Apparently, I needed to build some more muscles first, as my entire posture while running put a lot of stress on my knees. I have no idea if they knew that for a fact after seeing me run, but what I do know is that, after months of training my body and getting back to running seven weeks ago, I finally managed to hit the 20 km mark once more - without aching knees. Feels good.
Got denied for a credit limit increase when I have more than 10xs my current limit (purely for convenience and lower utilization %) in the accounts here and one of which is almost 11 years old. Called up and asked why they don't like me and want to see me succeed in life, and got told they would reinput it manually. They then came back to me and said I am instantly approved and have an excellent account. I told them the wine and biscotti is on me with my new limit, and to come see me.
On a less successful note I can't recursively pay my health insurance with a card because fuck my life so I have to manually go in every month because paying with a bank account doesn't give me any benefit. I asked if they could put that one in the suggestion box to make my day, and good ole Joslyn seemed to brush it off.
Good move, I've been using Citibank for debit and mostly airlines for credit. I love Citi for their 0 fees when you have enough money going through the account. My JetBlue AMEX is my favorite credit product although they are converting to a Barclay's/Mastercard at the end of the year and I'm going to swap into one of the AMEX Blue products and open a new JB card for the free mile repeat bonus.
Debit?! I don't know the meaning of such a card.
I was thinking of trying to open a Scwhab high yield investor savings for the reimbursement of foreign ATM fees. At the moment I use Ally for the lowest around of a 1% fee on foreign and free domestic, but I never use ATMs domestically. The only other real option I saw was to have 20k+ in a TD bank account for free foreign ATMs or play the game of "find the right ATM" with w/e bank that has an alliance going. That is wwaaaaayy to much of a hassle especially when you don't know the foreign city well enough or have it near you if you do.
Barclays has some good cards though. Nothing is quite as fun for playing with money as opening up various cards for bonuses and then keeping track of it and the spending requirements you have to do for it. If you can get up to 100 different credit cards at once you have probably won the game. That free airfare though!
I have enough miles with JetBlue for the next decade at this point.
I was going to go with Ally for international but it was actually easier to open a local account in London and do a large transfer every now and again.
Helps that my company has a base there so we have the infrastructure in place to do the transfers on the cheap.
I got offered a job by Amazon today.
Recently landed a job at a company that helps people get rides through medicare, to their doctor appointments, I only help set them up, not involved with the driving process itself and it's a pretty laid back, cool environment there too BUT the cons is that it's right outside of Austin with some of the worst trafic and about a 50 mile drive round trip daily taking me sometimes an hour or more. I get a call later on from a bank I had applied to offering me a position, and instead it's only a 5 minute drive. This completely cuts out that ugly commute, I almost got killed twice by other people while it was pouring rain, trying to make it on time. If I am late twice, the jobs gone. Now I know that anyone would probably say take the bank job, but I will be taking a 3 dollar paycut per hour, but I can easily make up for by gaining incentive.
I can't believe I am actually bummed about having to choose between two jobs, most people would be grateful for the opportunities and I am just cursing myself for being so indecisive. I honestly wanted to do both of them but the banking hours are complete shit and cannot happen. Oh yeah latter job is Monday - Friday 8-5.
Pros and cons keep stacking up to even and it's making it harder to decide on what to do.
Hito, don't forget to take the cost of gas/car maintenance into account in your decision. That extra $3/hr gets much smaller when you have to spend $10-15/day (depending on mpg, etc, but honestly the increased risk of having an accident and having insurance go up/paying deductible might swing this into $20/day over time) just getting to work. Your indecision is likely a result of them being roughly equivalent opportunities, and there isn't a good way to predict which one will be "better", so you kinda just have to flip a coin at some point.
I think I would rather not become a statistic in a horrible accident, there is a reason the fatality rate is highest in Texas. I forgot to mention that the bank has 5 incredibly gorgeous and hot girls working there, I would be the only man, even the manager is a beautiful woman.
Every guy's ham fisted harem fantasy anime series come true?
Edit: Thanks for the feedback blubb, it helped put things into perspective. I read you are looking for work yourself. What kind of work you looking for?
So what you're saying is you'd like to make a deposit.
A friend of mine who I met online (actually on LJ at first, then we migrated to Twitter, then to Facebook and tumblr) chat almost every day, she flew down to Miami for a vacation not long ago and I drove down to meet up with her, not really a close drive but worth it to finally meet her in person. Well, she messaged me today and asked if I'd like to come visit her for a few days, totally her treat.
Despite everything to happen the past few days, I really am glad for the friends I have.
you had a friend all along. lying asshole
