    Holy shit congrats man

I strongly recommend you test drive some toyotas before you buy anything else and see if they fit what you like in a ride. A Romanian mechanic friend buys them used and fixes up to give friends or drives and gets them and easily over a million+ KM out of them, superb quality engines.

Finally Melena! Glad to hear it. I've always harbored hatred for Ford so I personally recommend not getting one next time lol.

Toyotas and Hondas have great resell value even 6+ years down the line and are generally the most reliable as long as you keep up on the basic maintenance. You know what to do.

Same with Subaru's. Those three are usually the top three in terms of resale and retaining value.

I am not sure about cars but in the realm of trucks the newer 2013-2015 model trucks Nissan was getting rated higher than Toyota in reliability. Toyota is great but I would read about specific models and specific years because it definitely changes.

Understandable but mostly my point is that regardless of brand look up the reports on the specific model and year because they fluctuate. Not all Toyotas are automatically good.

Oh I know and completely agree. I just wish more cars came with a diesel option as it gets better mileage, and i don't get fucked by California's changing gas formula depending on the season.

Volkswagen has diesel. Maybe a Touareg (the crossover)? They're expensive though.

Went to visit my grandmother one last time yesterday after I got a call that her condition had worsened considerably. Spent half the day on the train, but I'm not sure if I made it in time; she was alive, but hadn't woken up since falling asleep the night before and, according to the staff, she wouldn't wake up again either. I spent about two hours with her, having one last nap while listening to her snorting, just as I used to do whenever I visited her during the summer holidays. I then left to spend the second half of the day on the train. She died the following night, but again, I'm grateful that she didn't have to suffer. However, I'll be spending some more time on the train next week when it's time for the funeral.

Nonetheless, I'm happier than I ever was. I spent more than a year trying to find a place that would take me in as a trainee, though the fact that I spent a few years as university student, trying to figure out what I want to do with life, just jumping from job to job, probably didn't help my cause. I wanted to be a librarian and, thanks to good preparation, I had little problems getting through the test for the only library that bothered inviting me. The day before the interview, however, we got the message that my mother had been diagnosed with lung cancer, which didn't exactly help since I was nervous enough as it was.

When the letter arrived, stating that I didn't make it, I felt down. Probably the worst I had felt up until then. Though that only lasted for about an hour, because I'm not the type to be down. I had already received countless letters like that, so what's another one? Granted, during the past year, I didn't think of myself as much more than a burden to society or trash, but I never gave up, though physical exercise also helped with my self-esteem. I tried applying for other jobs, but I considered myself lucky if they bothered answering.

Then, with people dying around me and the chances of getting a position for this year becoming non-existent, I was still continuing as usual when I saw an offer by someone I had already spent three years working for. Wasn't sure if office management was something I could do, but why not try? I sent a mail, got a call the same day, met for dinner, met again the next day, then, two days later on Monday, I started.

Today, due to a misunderstanding, I showed up about two earlier than I had to, but I stayed until the end of the day anyway. I don't think I've felt this happy in months. Once more, I am contributing, working towards a better future for myself, not being a burden to anyone. The work is fun, the hours are great, I get along with my co-workers and my boss respects me. He wants me to become the pillar for everyone else to rely on because I'm calm, patient, diligent and rather stress-resilient and I'll make sure not to disappoint him or anyone else for that matter. Leaving the office today after a hard day's work, feeling the sun on my face - I won't forget that feeling anytime soon.

I wanted to be a librarian, but who's to say becoming one wouldn't have ruined my other hobbies for me? I gave up on one dream, but I honestly don't regret it one bit.

Life is great, guys. Never giving up pays off eventually, no matter how many times fate appears to knock you down. Right now, I'm simply proud of myself.

My parents switched careers dozens of times. You may yet get the chance to be a librarian someday. In the mean time, congratulations!

I just saw on Twitter there are tons of open positions at New York public libraries. Idk where you live but everyone should try living in New York for a little while http://www.nypl.org/careers

NYPL is legit as fuck. Two of my friends worked there for a number of years and REALLY enjoyed it.

Honestly, you have to be in the middle of something to know if you like it or not. I've been an architect, martial arts instructor with my own school, retail manager, retail lowbie, shipping/receiving, and HR Clerk. HR Clerk was the best. I filed papers in a giant room that only a handful of people had a key, which, most would send me an email to pull whatever and then they would come find me (rather than find it themselves). I listened to my music and podcasts. I was rarely at my desk, but had headphones when I was. By far the best since I had a small group of great people and no customer contact.

Just watch out for ghosts in NYPLs.
