Got a free tablet from Verizon today. Went to upgrade the wife's phone and the guy just drops it on the table "Here's your free tablet." She has an iPad, the kids have a Nook they use to play Angry Birds and read "The Monster at the End of This Book". I have my crappy smart phone. Now I have a decent tablet for free. Yay!

I was invited by a new friend to a vegan potluck last night. One of my good friends is visiting this weekend, and I thought that there's no way he's gonna be down for a vegan potluck. I put it out there a little sheepishly at first.. and, nice, he's game to try it -- neither of us have done anything like this before.

We joked about being real bold and going for a cricket-based dish, but shit, we could barely pull off the two pretty basic dessert recipes we chose. Let us just say my culinary skills may be on par with the poor form that some of you loathe so well.

We went for Date Squares and PB&Jam Nanaimo bars. The date squares recommended overnight chilling--uh shit--it got about an hour of cooler temps. The Nanaimo bars got enough chill time, so we were slightly less embarrassed to present that dish and went with it first. All the vegan & gluten-free diet peeps loved both dishes, especially the PB&J slab of deliciousness.

And we left them a few packs of gluten-free beer too. What up, feigning belonging in the vegan crowd ~ ~

Went to take a nap around 6pm, just a short one, before watching bruins-canadiens. Woke up from a dream about frying up three types of pig meat and watching football to a text from my girlfriend that said "I'm starving. Can we order pizza and have sex when I get there?" at midnight.
