Random Win: The irl Fuck Ya thread

Not really a win or a fail, but funny and I thought I'd share. My daughter loves to lock the doors, often with no one on the other side so we have to take the handle off to open it. Kept forgetting to just order the emergency keys for them.

Daughter just locked herself in the bathroom, and hubby mentioned the keys again and I was like, "LET ME ORDER THEM RIGHT NOW SO WE DON'T FORGET."

Went to amazon and looked at the reviews. Top comment on the keys is:

"can't find them anywhere else, and saves my family from having to hunt for the right screwdriver when a kid locks themselves in a bathroom. "

I guess the win if anything is I found them even cheaper than amazon somewhere else which rarely happens.

As some know we got hit hard with life job/financially-wise over the summer. Things are now steady and should remain that way unless lightning strikes. In any case, because of that hit and another hit we had a few years ago we had to put some decent debt onto CCs. Not proud of it, but we did what we had to do. Managed this weekend to get a loan that is going to reduce the rates on 5/6 cards we have. Two of which will be reduced over 2X the APR we were paying. If we make only minimum payments (which I plan to pay higher, but it's a reasonable payment amount if needed) we'll have all the cards paid off in 3 years. It's nice to have that set goal and know that it will be over with sooner than it was before.

That's awesome and I totally know the feeling. We did the same when I was on workmans comp/ temporary disability suspended wrongly. It's always a good feeling having a plan in place. I hope things continue to get better.

Thanks and definitely! Our biggest hit was when I was going to school, pregnant, and my husband got laid off. I was getting insurance through his employer, and at the time it was before obamacare, so it was considered a pre-existing condition. I had to pay for insurance through COBRA which skyrocketed the price, and on top of everything else we had to pay for with basically his unemployment checks. We were putting a good chunk into paying that off and then when the summer hit, everything had to be put back on it.

Now, whenever he is in between jobs we still have my income, so there shouldn't be a need to ever put a balance on the CCs anymore. I even have some extra for any rainy day situations.

We're still playing catch up but I'm crossing fingers for a bonus. Being back fulltime helps tremendously on its own. Now to get this settlement done..

Decided today to finally break and buy a PS4, so I could get Fallout 4 to play. Had waited til after the holiday in case the gf got it for me for Christmas and had hoped the Costco price of $280.00 for the unit would stay that way til at least this weekend. Well, it had not, shot up to $330 for just the ps4. Said forget it, and left.

Went down to gamestop and saw they still had bundles at $350. Asked to get the Star Wars bundle, which they informed they had only 1 bundle left, the Black ops one. Wasn't ever planning on getting black ops but decided what the heck I could always resell it.

Manager instead went ahead and did a refund on my ticket for black ops, dropping the price of the actual PS4 to $290. Took back black ops. Then I added in the fallout 4 game. Basically I was able to exchange black ops for fallout and saved myself $50. Although it could be considered more of a fail on waiting til now instead of taking advantage of holiday prices.

Friends got us a hot pot set for Christmas. Finally got a chance to break it out for dinner. Tasty as fuck and probably saved us a good $20+ if we had gone to a restaurant instead. Other great part is it made handling the kids around hot pot a million times easier.

Been slowly working on organizing our stuff to make our living more spacious without either a. being hoarders or b. having to get rid of stuff we want and actually use. I've been wanting to get into doing duvet covers instead of comforter sets for switching out and to make it a million times easier to clean. Got a set today I really love. Omg do they take up so much less space. Gonna start donating a comforter set I have every time I get a new duvet cover set.

IKEA seriously has some of the best prices on down comforters and duvet sets. We love ours but will need to get new ones next year since we just bought a new bed.
