Apparently I misread the ruling and last call is still 2AM, but now bars and nightclubs are allowed to stay open until 4AM from their former mandated closing time of 2:30am. Apparently a few nightclub and bar owners were pissed that they were losing business to restaurant/sports bars that were already allowed to be open until 4am because they were primarily a dining establishment and thus avoided the mandated 2:30am closing time for clubs/bars. Meh, this is much less cool than I thought.

Unless theres a drink limit after a certain time (Calgary doesnt permit to have more than 2 drinks on your person after midnight, so you can only have 2 singles or one double before ordering another), just order up your drinks to last an hour and enjoy the ride.

Amazon screwed up another shipment but the CS rep was pretty great in taking care of it. Went to the local Postmaster at USPS first though just to hedge my bets. Not the first time I've spoken with the Postmaster but it seems pretty rare how laid back and helpful this area's post office is. They've even helped me out with some international shipments that have gone missing in the past.

Not even half a year in job training and my boss is so pleased with my work that I received a ~45% pay raise. I now earn more than all other trainees, even the ones who have been there longer than me, though I have to keep that a secret.

Feels good when all that overtime finally pays off and my efforts are rewarded with more than a pat on the back.

Only thing worse than mandated closing times is BAC restrictions on beer. Visiting my brother at Fort Sill when he was in the Army, Astylla and I flew, Dad and Step Mother drove. Brother had my dad stop at a liquor store in Texas to stock up as Oklahmoa has some ridiculously low cap on the alcohol % in beer. Think it was something like a 2-3% difference in budweiser in Texas vs Oklahoma. Shit sucked hard.

A similar thing happened when a friend of mine from Canada visited, he was aghast at what we call "Smirnoff", as apparently our American version is watered down piss water compared to the Canadian stuff.

Eh... Not exactly. For the mass-produced stuff, it varies from state to state depending on regulations. For craft beers, they are usually anywhere from 3.0% to 10-12%. Some places get shafted pretty hard.

Oh it is. For example, Mikes Hard Lemonade in canada is vodka based (unless they changed in the last ten years) and down here, it's a malt liquor base. Canada's is far superior.

Tried pho for the first time tonight. Was pretty good. Afterwards the wife and I went to a small bakery next door as she wanted to get some treats and a pork bun. The clerk wraps everything and the total is $6.80. I go to give him my card to pay and he says cash only. Neither of us had anything. He says no prob, prints a receipt, and says to pay it the next time we visit. If that's not a kind heart and hospitality I don't know what is.
