So schools in the UK get inspected by a semi-governmental agency every few years. The last time my school was inspected, it was downgraded from "good" to "requires improvement." To be fair, we deserved that as our leadership had become crap. A few days ago we got inspected again. We're back to "good." As sigh of relief was breathed by 50-odd teachers, and a double Scotch was gratifyingly drained by at least one of them.
I got a Misfit for Christmas (similar to a Fitbit but generally less well-liked). They saw my battery was running out about a month ago and offered to send me another one. Fine, I figured. If they're going to big brother me, I might as well get some of the benefits.
My battery died two weeks ago (and I replaced it with one I had on hand), but today the free battery arrived. They said they'd send one. The packing slip says they sent one. There were two in the envelope! Score!
Also, I took apart this damaged soldering iron today and found that its ground wire was totally burnt off and disconnected by our mutual unfortunate line-voltage experience.
Went to a friend's parents' yesterday for Greek Easter. I don't think I'll need to eat the rest of the week.
Souvlaki, grilled meatballs, lamb, feta, olives, roasted peppers, grilled hot peppers, eggplant, potatoes, moussaka, mixed salad, cheesecake, almond cake, a sweet custard pastry, strawberry shortcake all in my belly. All homemade. Definitely gained a few pounds.
Bruh where the spanikopida or however it's spelled
You're right, they had that and a purely feta pie thing too.
Greeks definitely know how to have a spread.
Had my buddy's bachelor party on Saturday. Buddy and I organized it, since the best man had a critical failure in communication with the groom (which we finally learned of on friday). Went to the Leinie's Brewery, drank a few pints, took a tour, ate some food, went back to buddy's house and chilled, went to a bar and played darts, then went back to the house and chilled some more.
was a great success; groom was super drunk, no one got hurt, everyone had a good time.
that is the cutest bachelor party!
They held hands and got mani/pedis too!
Job interview today. Was 5 hours with multiple people and groups. I am cautiously optimistic. I definitely got the feeling that I wasn't like "one of five apps they have lined up", felt like a binary process, "we chose you so unless someone votes you out you have the job". A bit reassuring even if only speculation, there were some pretty good hints to that effect.
Comes with being able to take classes at MIT or Harvard in any discipline for free (after like 6mo) provided it doesn't interfere with work, which is p cool. Can also do research with Harvard or MIT faculty. To be honest I could use a bit of a break before I get back into that though.
Anyway, unlikely to hear back within 2-3 weeks cuz govt job and it needs to go through HR and stuff but fingers crossed.
Hey w2g I don't even know what this job is but I just hope you wore nice shoes to the interview and buy more nice shoes with that new career money
yeah, well, we ain't the party types and crazy shit costs money.
nice, sath!
Can I steal your MIT pass and audit some shit?
I mean... asking for a friend?
Damn Sath, get it!
You should spend it on Portuguese food. Boston suburbs have the best Porto and Azore food on Earth.
