Not true. I did two flights with connections that took my bag before boarding and the airline took it to the final stop for me. And no, I wasn't on the same plane. Off plane > to the next plane > to the last stop > carousel for bag. It's so so much easier to exit and board and walk around without the bag that I do board last/close to last for this reason.
The 2 majors I fly along with JetBlue specifically don't let you do this. They will send your bags out with the normal baggage if you gatecheck. They used to let it slide on JB and give you your bag on the jetway but too many folks started doing it so they closed the loophole.
I've seen people busted for it on my last 6-7 flights every single time. It's a major revenue loss for them.
Just don't check bags and bring it on the plane. Dealing with baggage handlers and carousels is a time-killer and annoying as fuck.
I did this with Jetblue from Boston to FL in April, but it was a nonstop flight. Delta was the other two times.
I've had good experiences with this and carousel times (surprisingly quick) so who knows. Maybe you just got the crappier end of the stick/worse experience. I can't say it's always a good thing but for that entire trip it worked well and I had little problems/wait times.
Nonstop doesn't count hunny bunny
Delta got pretty tight on it but it depends entirely on the gate agents.
I have literally never heard of them not returning gate checked bags, either to the jetway or to baggage claim, and pushing them on to the destination. They don't have full tags on them and can't be put in the baggage system. Good for you I guess.
They have tags they give out now. They give half to you and attach the other half to the bags, so maybe that's it. (For Delta anyway since both those flights had a layover.)
They got a little slide on the ramp tihng you walk across to board. They put the bag on it and wheeeee the guy on the ground grabs it and throw it in with the rest. I really wanted to slide down the slide.
qal whatever you do dont fly spirit or frontier unless u r hella strapped for cash in which case just fucking go for it but beware of carry on weight limits.
i am carrying on a lot of weight
also a third xbox friend said he has a 100 dollar American Airlines voucher i can use
If you have an AA voucher than it's about $30 bucks for your first leg.
6am or 10am departure ~130 bucks connects through Dulles in DC
https://www.kayak.com/flights/ORF-BNA/2016-08-17
Next leg is a fair bit more expensive.
You're looking in the $300 region because of how the hub and spoke works out.
You can do a double layover in Reagan and then Laguardia (Don't do this) or a single layover at Dulles for a few bucks more.
There is a 5am departure from Minneapolis on AA that's $230 but only do that if you're absolutely sure you can make it. The next AA departures won't let you connect to Norfolk in reasonable time.
Also, are you going to drive from Nashville to South Dakota? Yeesh.
Bruh, do you have to personally pick it up? Could you approve of a surrogate? Where is the station? I have some SD peeps that could probably snag the tix and overnight them to you.
Although I'd probably try calling the station and bribing an employee to overnight them to you first. Just shoot them $50 by PayPal or something if they just overnight mail them to you or something - not as "official radio station business", just on the side.
I'm SD. Wat's going on? I missed a buncha shit probs.
I won tickets to see Metallica in Minneapolis from a station in Sioux Falls, live in coastal Virginia, have to pick up in person, going with two friends, one in Sioux Falls, one near Nashville, working out logistics of all the travel and it's a real pain.
Also, why not just fly to Sioux City and drive to Minneapolis?
idk if they'll let me send someone, if they do my friend can just pick them up, but costwise its not gonna be much difference if I go ORF->BNA MSP->ORF, or just round trip ORF->MSP
and when I looked for ORF->FSD it was a lot more expensive
with the 100 bucks on AA it's an extra 100-140 bucks total to avoid driving 16 fucking hours and spending that much on gas.
