Edit: Also, it's important that you're making the changes you make to your own life for yourself. Changing your way of life for a significant other (or appearing to) puts way too much stress on them to make the relationship work, which typically breaks the relationship. It looks like you've (over)invested in the relationship, at which point they're given the opportunity to call or fold. It can be kind of a dick move. Do these things if they're things you want to do, but you need to still be genuinely happy that you did them in a year if you're no longer with this girl.
Yeah, I intend to ask about marriage and other stuff, too. How car/house/business loans might work, etc. I need to know what my options are as far as major life milestones. I don't think I could work a job yet, at this point. The main reason I have so much time to devote to a social life is that I can just say "need to go to the bathroom." and just do that. I still go 3-5 times a day, even on good days, and each time takes at least half an hour. Plus, if I'm having a mediocre day, I am left exhausted and unfocused. With friends, that just means I listen quietly. With a job, that means I'm not doing my job.

As for making choices, I've had plans to move to that city for years. All she's done is made them compelling enough to get started on them now, rather than "soon." I'm not moving in with her, understand. The reasoning is, essentially, unchanged from before I met her: I want to be able to hang out with friends on short-notice, and in addition to taking up time, driving 20 miles to do so saps me of any momentum I manage to build up. With her in the picture, "friends" merely becomes "friends/GF." I've literally been talking about these vague plans for years, now. I will not regret carrying them out, unless it does freak her out. Shouldn't, though. I told her about how I'd been intending to move to town.

Also, another win: we've made loose plans for me to meet her family around the 15th. A bit intimidated, because what if?!?! but not excessively worried; i do pretty well in a family setting. Probably introduce her to my own folks around then, too. They're funny; they've been deliberately acting super mellow about the whole thing despite being extremely excited.

It might be worth specifically asking about freelance work (self-employed). You could supplement your income with whatever your talents are and avoid time-sensitive jobs. Writing, graphics design, website maintenance, volunteering, etc. You're in a position of stable limbo. This time could be spent developing talents you enjoy and testing their profitability, running with them if there's one that takes off.

    Random ideas:
    1) Try to do some entry-level geek culture things successfully and end up with a patreon account that's actually profitable.
    2) Do something public-service-y you could do that looks good on your resume and fills an unmet need. For instance, write a grant applying for state-level funds to make and maintain blogs for senior citizens at a local retirement home. They stay in better contact with their families and you probably make your own hours and pay yourself an hourly wage.
    3) Take up cheap digital photography and rebrand yourself as an artist. Maybe grow back the neckbeard if necessary.

hah. yeah, i do the lego club with the elementary school, but that's not something i get paid for.

Yeah, i've been mulling over things I might do freelance like that. I'll have to ask about it; there are limits to the amount of money I can make without affecting my benefits, and they're pretty low, if i remember correctly.

Just shaved my glorious beard for work, which is a giant fail. However, I have a lovely chin profile again which is a win.

eh... if it's just a casual thing here and there, yeah, but anything more formalized and i'd be uncomfortable doing that.

Still sore from dodgeball on Saturday and go some scrapes but it's a win cause dodgeball. Plus we planning to do it more regularly so I'll get back into dodgeball shape.

Also figured out what was making my allergies flare up. Well maybe not what it is but where it's coming from. Seems something irritating is coming thru my front window starting right around nightfall till around midnight. Back window fine. Keeping front open rest of the time fine. Have it open during that time and doesn't matter what else I do I'm at my worst allergies till almost noon

Well right outside the window is the balcony but past that is a huge tree that's been there for years and I haven't had a problem with it until a month or 2 ago... I mean I guess it's possible I've just recently developed an allergy specifically to this trees nasal rape but seems odd. Like the oaks shading my back window are fine. Walking/riding in the woods or brush at all times a day at most a bit of a itch. Plus I wanna blame my neighbors

    SoHo is cooler anyway.

Go to the Dutch or Lure Fishbar. Bring your wallet.

You could try Charlie Bird but you prolly can't get in. You could also try Morimoto's new ramen joint in Midtown. It's called Momosan or some shit. Get the spicy shit.

    Shake Shack - 41st & 3rd. Baller.

I can't think of anything offhand. I need to start keeping track of the good places I've been. A couple that come to mind, but aren't "holy shit I'm so cool" are Public, Perilla, and Takashi. If you want to make the journey over towards the west side Financial District, The Forge by Marc Forgione was good. Had a meal there recently for my dad and his fiancee.

I'm convinced momosan sprinkles crack in their broth. Tried the one out in midtown a few weeks ago and still itching for another fix.

I have a list I found on my phone to that says to try La Sirene. Haven't been, obviously, but I must of heard about it through someone. Not sure where it is exactly.
