Can confirm that being an uncle is the best. I shirked all responsibility when my niece was born. If you clearly state that you are a manchild and should not be trusted with babies, they will believe you.

Yes, I was literally born an uncle. My niece is 5 months older than me.

Not my first rodeo, though. There's about a 10 year gap between my sister's first two kids and second two kids, so I remember the youngest two as babies. Also this is my niece's second child, bringing my grand-nibling total up to three. My niece's son is the oldest, my nephew's son is 6 weeks younger than that, and then my niece's daughter is a year and a half or so younger than that.

Being an uncle is indeed great. I'm pretty good at dodging that stuff by dint of always having someone with more expertise around. After all, I live 4.5 hours away, so not exactly available for casual babysitting. I'd actually like to, though. Y'all know I have no qualms about poop. I'm pretty intimidated by the prospect, though, so haven't pushed for it on the rare occasions it would have been useful while i'm there. i figure i can just babysit when they're a little older, and I can dangle vidya and legos in front of them for hours of entertainment. Always had that on lock-down, even as a kid.
