I was invited to my cousin's wedding months ago. It's in Colorado, so I knew there was very little chance I was going to be able to go, but I hadn't RSVP'ed that I couldn't because tbh I am lazy and I forgot. So I called my dad today to wish him a happy birthday and he was having a jolly time sitting in front of a bonfire in his yard and drinking beer and he offered to fly me out there to go to the wedding. Both of my brothers will be in attendance, which means that it will be the first time the three of us have been in the same place in something close to 12 years.
I wasn't expecting to go, at all, but I'm super excited to go and see family. I have to fly out after work that Friday, share a room with my dad and brothers (awkward but w/e) and fly right back on Sunday at noon so I don't miss any work, but shit yeah man. I've never been out to Colorado and I haven't seen most of my family in a while. So fuck yeah.
get high, post on BG
Colorado's cool, but the airport's in Wyoming. Have fun and go gasp for air in the mountains. Where's the wedding?
It's in Colorado Springs.
Can't get high, despite the fact that I do have a teaching job lined up, I am reasonably sure that I also have a drug test lined up as well. Not to mention the fact that getting high has never really appealed to me. Maybe some day I will try it, but certainly not until I'm absolutely sure a drug test isn't imminent. The last thing I want is to jeopardize the career I've worked so hard for.
Oh the Springs. Manitou Springs and Pikes Peak are nearby. Garden of the Gods maybe.
Made the drive from the Bay Area to Disneyland in seven hours, which included a stop for dinner and a stop for gas. Last trip took 8 hours. And significantly better than last thanksgiving where it seemed all of California thought the freeway was a demolition derby pit and it took almost 12 hours.
It is warming up this week in SoCal, so not out of the question you see something soon.
You can always go to Texas... pretty sure we're just under a permanent heat index advisory until like September.
My neighbor's are getting evicted. They should have to be out by the 30th.
Now I can get some peace and quiet around here.
That house is like 9 ppl living there mooching off the grandma (who was the only one who paid anything in that house). The rest are pill junkies. They have a 15 year old who wants to go to school but they don't let her, as she has to babysit the toddler. They have a 13 year old who's been on an ankle bracelet 4 times in the last year. Been arrested for stealing, fighting, stole a car; hasn't been caught/arrested, but her grandma says she's prostituting. She always has a group of guys in the front yard. And the guy I think she's dating now is like fucking 26 years old. When she was on her last ankle monitor that guy was over pretty much every day
Glad those motherfuckers are all getting the boot. I feel sorry for the grandma though. I'm surprised she hasn't been driven insane yet
Wow how you are not a gang member or slanging that rock?
Well they have nothing to do with how I was brought up. I've only been living here for a year and a half, lol
I think I've mentioned before that my mom is a borderline hoarder. She's not as bad as the hoarders you see on the show, but it's still difficult for her to get rid of things. This is something she's passed on, in a diminished form, to my sister and I, whether through nature or nurture. We hate waste, and just throwing things away is wasteful. Plus there's all kinds of cool shit you can do with old stuff. The problem is actually doing it fast enough to keep up with what you collect. My sister gets around this by having married someone who is more inclined to just buy new shit, and will throw old stuff out without asking her. And consciously limiting herself, of course. I am not ready for the first, but I've made great strides on the second.
As part of my preparations for moving to a new apartment, I've been going through all my clothes and pitching stuff I don't wear. My mom being my mom, she's having me send it over there... but that's her problem. I've whittled my clothes down to a single dresser, two small plastic crates, a large plastic tote, and a couple dozen hangars. The dresser for stuff I wear somewhat often, the crates for pyjamas, sentimental stuff (souvenir T-shirts, etc), and situational stuff, and the hangars for my suit, shirts, and light jackets (with winter jackets stored in the tote for the summer).
Sounds like a lot, but I can fit everything in a single closet, with room to spare. That's a big deal.
I'm also working on getting the lego collection into its drawers, even if it's not sorted. That way it won't take up so much space, and it also breaks it into more manageable chunks for when I do sort it. I'm likely going to end up in an efficiency apartment, so I'll probably need to store the whole collection with my folks until I can get into a 1br, but I've been so focused on trying to get it sorted that I haven't built much lately anyway, so I'll live.
Slept in and played video games all afternoon. 6 straight days an I'm tired as fuck.
Had anniversary dinner last night. Found a small piece of plastic wrap in my mashed potato, they comped my steak. They also comped my appy since the butter from my Gf's King crab butter bubbled over onto her hand.
Also the Cavs won, came home and watched an epic GoT episode.. End.
Tomorrow is last day of work then off for about a month for wedding and france. Shits gonna be lit.
Enjoy! Eat lots of food filled with butter!
Enjoy being swarmed by homeless people trying to sell you trinkets.
Try to avoid dying. Eat lots of cheese, bread and meat pls.
