So riding home today I hear a bunch of kids look to be mid teens yelling for their friend. Think nothing of it until I realize I'm the only other person around and they looking at me. So apparently I can still pass for a teen... at least at 20 feet away to other teens. Feels good man

So at a staff meeting a couple weeks back we had one of those dopey teambuilding exercises. This time we split into groups and each had to take a part of our new company's slogan and kind of make it into a song with a randomly assigned genre.

Now as luck would have it I got put in the Jazz group and I am an avid lover of some kinds of Jazz/Swing/Blues, the only one in our group as well who has any real interest. So to the surprise of basically 60+ co-workers I lead a small little 20 second tune on this and now everyone's all excited to know I can sing kind of. To the point where more than a couple asked if I would take part in our company's talent show in October for our residents (I work in a senior living place as a cook). And eventually I say, sure why not.

So I went from being basically a closet introvert last year to being alright with singing "Beyond the Sea" in front of a bunch of old people and co-workers. Feels good.

The teacher's union had a new teacher yard sale, basically retiring teachers donate a bunch of crap, and then the union hosts this event for new teachers. Everything is free. I walked away with a ton of great stuff for my classroom. Basically the only thing I really needed that I didn't get were magnets. I got everything else I was looking for. Fucking huge win. The amount of crap I walked out with probably totaled $200.
