I survived the first day of school.
Holy shit they started already? O.o
Our county started today for all students. The school year was adjusted so that the end of the first semester coincides with winter break.
Is that not standard? Every school I was in ended first semester with winter break.
For at least the past few years, the first semester has ended a few weeks after they came back, which was dumb. I'm not sure how everything got out of alignment there because I remember when I went to school that winter break signified the end of the semester, but that was ages ago and in a different state so I honestly don't know.
Students start for us on Monday. I wish it were later, but we get three weeks off for Christmas, so it's a good trade off.
It just kinda sucks because now is the time for prime pool weather, but oh well. Can still do it after work/weekends.
School doesn't start back until September 5th this side of the pond. Haha. Still get 2 weeks for Christmas, and a 1 week break at the end of October.
So just found out one of the girls I was in track with back in HS is in the Olympics. Man now I feel even worse about getting out of shape but yay for know an Olympic athlete
Yeah, I know two girls on the Olympic Field Hockey team and one swimmer. Kinda funny seeing facebook posts about vacation, vacation, baby, olympics, baby.
Sent out some resume feelers and got an invite to do a phone interview for a company I actually want to work for.
Regardless of the outcome it feels good , especially since I only replied yesterday.

Finished paying off my Orlando vacation next month in full. Now the only thing I need to budget for is gas/food/booze during my trip. Hooray for financial planning.
I thought you already lived in Orlando
Nah fam, I'm in the glorious state capital Tallahassee. Orlando is only about a 3 hour drive though.
is that part of the redneck riviera
All I think of when I hear Tallahassee is Kathy Bates in The Office with her two Great Danes.
I made it through the first week of class. Most of the kids are great, some are ... not so much. Pissed off one of my classes by giving them assigned seats, which felt pretty great because I am apparently the devil incarnate now. Don't care. If they'd been following expectations for behavior then I wouldn't have had to move them.
apparently the redneck riviera is the part under alabama.
