I get 10 days of vacation time and 3 days of sick time each calendar year, although we are allowed to roll over unused days until March 31st of the following year. Also, 6 paid holidays--New Year's, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

California only requires employers to offer 24 hours of paid sick leave per year, so 3 days. Only CA, MA, OR, VT and CT have paid sick leave requirements. Those other states provide 5 days a year (for full time employees).

As someone who gets sick/hurt often due to a mix of being a clutz and a compromised immune system that no tests have determined why , I see both sides from a professional standpoint as well as personal.

I've never been fired for missing excessive work as 99% of times I've had legit doctor visits/notes explaining why or medical procedures . However people do judge me on that, and I get why it's a valid concern. It's equally as frustrating for me too though because I feel worse for missing work and putting undue stress on others.

I'm lucky to have extensive medical coverage to cover my ass.

Ran with my school's cross-country team today. Of course I was totally last, but I made it all the way through. Kids were super happy I took part (another teacher did, too. She totally blasted me though rofl). I am feeling pretty proud considering.

Score one for unions. I get a little over 4hrs of vacation every pay check (3 weeks) and 4 hours of sick leave (12 or 13 days) every pay check as well, and my sick leave doesn't cap till I hit 1500 hours.

I get 14 days sick a year they all carry over and we can cash them out, 12 vacation a year and every anniversary of hiring we get an extra so year two its 13, year 3 is 14 etc. Can carry over 25 I think, also can cash out. And we get 15 or 16 paid vacation days, if we work it we get double time if we don't work it we still get paid for it as straight time and we get triple time for holiday overtime. Lol.

I get 2 hours of sick leave per billing period I believe, and 4 hours of vacation time per billing period. So 13 vacation days a year and ~7 sick days.

Edit: Also work on flex-like hours so I can come in at like 11 and just stay til 7 and bill my 8 hours. So don't usually need to take sick hours for doctor appts, I just make them in the morning.

Man, I like living in Norway. I have 25 days of paid vacation per year (given previous years workload within normal parameters) and 10 days of sick leave before I need to get a doctors note.
