Do you guys make low income for your tax bracket or buy a house too ? Our first year married we got much more back but that does sound a bit much unless you qualified for every tax credit you could. Do you use turbo tax or something that can help in case of severe errors ? I'd have that looked at by a professional tbh.

My wife and I had something similar happen the first year after our first son was born because neither of us changed our withholdings at our work. They took out way more taxes than they should so we got a ton back. That being said I don't remember that big of a difference tax wise just from getting married.

Our 2016 taxes are going to rock though since our second was born 12/29/2016 just in time.

I knew I forgot something. Also yeah make sure that shit is right because the following year after we got married we didn't have me taking enough out and we had to pay a small enough to state ( if that applies to you) . So now I withhold married at a higher single rate.

Yeah I'd say 20% is typical for NYC, but I've certainly done less for shitty service. I just don't do that for places that I frequent.

I think we've discussed this before but I mean minimum like they did a very ok job. Nothing special but nothing really bad.

If it's bad service I'll dip below 20% once in awhile.
